February this year will be my third year on the trot! That in its self, should speak volumes!.. I am taking my 2 boys (aged 10 and 8) for their second year! Last year was their first and taking them alone, I wanted to pick somewhere I knew they would be well looked after. I didn't want to be worrying about them when I wasn't around! Having been the previous year I had no doubt as to the level of care they would receive! Elizabeth didn't take her eyes off them for a minute and WANTED to take them to lunch! Its all in the price!! The hotels are more than adequate. The food good and plenty full! As is the free bar!! The bit that really makes the holiday such great fun and fantastic value is the SKI SCHOOL! No wonder it is as highly rated as it is! You could not meet more genuine, friendly people! People who you realise, after a short time, are not out to make money out of you but genuinely enjoy what they do. "come and have a drink with us tonight" "we will get you back to the hotel". If you book a trip they are happy to fit in your ski school round it so you don't miss any ski time! Private lessons £10 per hour. I only booked 1 hour but it lasted 2. He said he had nothing on that afternoon!.... Negatives?? - well if you are an advanced skier, looking for lots of piste or want to brag about where you are going then it's not for you! If you want a great time, fantastic value for money then it's definitely worth a go!

A friend of mine recommended this place not only for the beauty of the scenery but also for the surrounding areas. The Brasov break was nice when it came to slopes and scenery but it was amazing when it came to visiting the area. A must-do is visiting Sinaia, Busteni, Breaza and going to the 2000m plateau from Sinaia or Busteni. So if you want more than just a ski/snowboard trip I'd definately recommend this resort.. Adrian

Went to Poiana Brasov in Jan 2006, we were a varied group from advanced to complete beginners. It was an amazing holiday so much so we have booked for next year! The ski school was fantastic, top instructors willing to spend time with you and of course have a laugh. It was incredible value for money in every way. We stayed in the Hotel Sport, the rooms were comfortable, the shower was brill and the baths were ideal for a nice soak after a day on the slopes. The weekends are bustling and the bars are all really friendly; you'll find many of the instructors wanting to show you round! To anyone thinking about going - do it and those that have booked, hope you have as good a time as we did! If you are all inclusive try the cherry liquor with coke, its delish, the beers not half bad either!

Excellent night life with very good restaurants. Don't miss Sura Dacilor, Vanatorul, Coliba Haiducilor. Skiing conditions are great but the slopes are limited. Queues at the lifts are long on weekends. I took my wife to the ski-school and the instructor was a nice guy form the Olympic team. Highly recommended for mixed couple where only one wants to ski.

Went to Poiana Brasov in Jan 05. We are all beginners and we all tried snowboarding, it was excellent. Great value for money esp. if you want to try skiing or boarding. We are all going back in Jan 06 with my son's friends this time as they want to try boarding. The snow was great and the night life was good enough for me with free booze all incl. in the price. Shopping was ok with loads of little market stalls wherever you went. A good place to learn.

Visited Brasov Feb 2005, and found the resort to be far too small for my liking. The runs were very limited and I would not recommend the resort to anyone other than complete beginner, however if you are an experienced boarder/skier the off-piste in the woods was quite good, although easy to get lost. The snow was ok higher up the mountain but was very patchy down below. The lift queues were very long and one could regularly spend half an hour before reaching the gondolas. Overall, if you’ve been before go elsewhere.

Went to Poiana Brasov in January 2004. The snow conditions were excellent. The runs are probably limited for more advanced skiers but I wasn't and they were fine. Ski school was particular good, friendly and patient instructors. The nightlife is fairly quiet but beer is cheap and a trip into nearby Brasov is well worthwhile
