We stayed at the Berghotel Lavenar (www.lavenar.at) in Feb 2006, which is an all-inclusive (full board, drinks, free admission to local swimming pool, etc.) very comfortable little family/kids-orientated 25 bed place right on the piste on a small plateau (1300m) at the top of the Pettneu cablecar (new for 2007). Limited selection of runs (8), but very reasonable, and since the owners of the Hotel (Windisch family) also own and run the pistes at Pettneu - lift passes are included in the pricing, which makes it a great deal for a first Family Ski Trip. St Anton is only 10 mins by free Skibus, if one seeks greater challenges. Highly recommended for a low cost all-in intro to family skiing.
