Was there with my 3 sisters and was very apprehensive about the whole week but we were all very impressed. Hotel Pamporovo was comfortable and close to everything but our rooms were small. We did complain and got moved to a fabulous suite so it's worth talking up if you are not happy. The skiing was the best we've ever done and had a great instructor called Nelly. She has excellent English and became our drinking buddy for the week. Nightlife was limited but great and we didn't get home til 8am for the last 3 nights. I've been to Austria, Italy and Andorra and can safely say that it's the prettiest resort I've been in by far. The skiing is only limited if you are an expert but otherwise there's plenty to do. The people are lovely and I can't wait to go back. Give it a try and you won't be sorry.

We skied in Feb 2005 and the snow was fantastic. Looking at the forecast for this week it will be the same. This resort offers EXCELLENT value for money for people new to skiing. For experienced skiers the runs are limited but a few that will keep you occupied. The hotels vary a lot. If you're looking for an introduction into Winter holidays and are not a snob then try the hotel Panorama, cheap, cheerful but good value for money and very close to the lifts. It was warm clean and the staff, fantastic. People we met paid a lot more to stay at the Pamporova but it didn't sound that the money balanced the benefits. The people are so friendly and the quality of instruction was fantastic. Great fun had by all so this comes highly recommended from us. Big tip, head for Brothers for lunch, great food and hot wine. Also, I recommend you try a Brothers hot chocolate with brandy just before you go out in the cold "fantastic". But remember that you do need to be able to stand in order to ski. Out of 10 I give this resort 9 for value, 10 for learning and 6 for people who already ski. Good luck and let us know what you think. [email protected] or even see you there next week.
Snow cover in March depends on the weather. Last year there was A LOT of snow:) in the site of mountain rescue it says 200cm snow cover on 15 March 2005. Hope this one too.
You can buy very good skis near Pamprorvo, in CHEPELARE they make ATOMIC,I've heard the Olympians wear them:)
Have a good holiday!
Hello....We are a group of 15 going on the 11th of March. Anyone been there that time of year? Late season and all wanting to know what the snow cover is like around March and where is the best place to buy skis and hire as well? Thanks for your help.
Have been to Pamporovo many times over the last 25 years and have seen the changes, mainly for the better. Ski instruction is of the highest standard with instructors speaking excellent English and with lots of patience. A good ski school is Steve's at the middle station. Here you can ski with a small group of similar ability or have a private lesson, both at at reasonable price. If you just want to hire ski equipment then this is also a good place to start as it too is of good quality. One comment has been made of the shortage of runs and this I would have to concur with. Although they are all enjoyable and, contrary to one comment on this page, there are 3 black runs! Am now looking forward to my annual week there as we head off on the 15th Feb when it will be a bit like going home as we catch up with friends we have made there over the years.
Emma, we recently returned from Pamporovo and were advised that if we returned next year and required private tuition to book it in resort when we arrived. Just to comment the holiday was so good we have already booked again for next new year. Stayed at the Pamporovo Hotel, brilliant, very warm rooms but you can't complain about that. Many wonderful nights in the Irish Bar and the Apres Ski party on the last night was fantastic, hangovers the next day for all of our party. Would not hesitate to recommend this resort to anyone
Can anyone please tell me how to get in contact with the Pamporovo Ski School. We are a family of mixed ability and wish to hire a private instructor. Please someone help? Thanks
Hello,
Is there anybody give me news about pamporovo pist .Is there snow machine?
we will go to there on Saturday is there snow cover
And how is hotel Pamporovo? How is location? How far to central resort and lifts?
Thanks
My husband and our 5 children have visited Pamporovo in Bulgaria for the last 3 years for Christmas & New Year 2003/2004/2005 and made many friends. It is like taking a trip back in time as it is very old fashioned and the majority of the people are very poor. The infrastructure is non-existent, so be careful not to have any accidents!
It is still very reasonable, but the locals have unfortunately become very greedy and unfriendly and only want to see the colour of your money, things are 4/5 times more expensive since our first visit.
The slopes are not very safe anymore which is a shame, and they have constructed buildings everywhere. 30 Hotels have appeared from nowhere in the last 18 months, you would not recognise the place from our first visit, our photos say it all!
I would not say it was a particularly good place for beginners, and trying to get on a ski lift is awful, expect to spend a minimum of half and hour and anything up to over an hour, with very unhelpful, unfriendly lift men.
It is such a shame that such a beautiful area has been spoilt. If you go up to the top of the mountain a visit up to the top of the tower where there is a Restaurant, you have beautiful views on a clear day.
We would not return again under any circumstances which is a shame, but to our mind it is now an unsafe mountain to ski or snowboard on. The areas which you ski/board are only the width of one lane of a road, and you are all fighting for space.
