Come to the other part of Kaimaktsalan in Macedonia in the city Gevgelija and there is a new opened ski centre. Come to see and ski on the real slopes not on this in Greece for beginners. There is a chair lift for 6 persons and every year something new is going on there. We are waiting for u.

This snow center is very small. It usually has a lot of snow due to the high altitude but the chair lift is terribly slow. With almost zero vertical drop, it keeps going and going, a fact that makes you freeze (the mountain is very windy) for about 15 minutes, covering a distance of 1.5km which a beginner skier can run in almost 3minutes..I could recommend it only for very beginners and during the spring, when the other Greek snow centers are out of snow.

I was there on the 30th of December 2007 and I must say I was very lucky. Coming from Saloniki with a daily bus service, it didn't look very promising as it was very foggy. But climbing up the mountain the bus went through the fog and a deep blue sky without any clouds appearing. As it was a Sunday it was quite crowded and there is, for sure, some space for improvements for renting some stuff and to get the lift pass (waiting time; 30min each). The lifts are good and old fashioned but good enough for this area. Just I couldn't understand that at T-Bar lifting only one person per T-Bar was going. However, most likely Kaimaktsalan is the place to find the powder in Greece due to location and altitude. They say it can be very windy and foggy. Right, it is a real mountain and if the weather is good it has an excellent view. You find also some slopes with deep powder, not too steep but good enough. I think it is also a very good place for beginners as there are nice wide, long blue and red slopes. Ski Heil Herbert

The slopes are perfect for beginners and intermediates. Smooth snow, good grooming, friendly atmosphere at the snow bar but slow, uncovered chair lifts. Avoid windy days. Nearby, you can have a lot of fun at Agios Athanasios (17.5 km away). The only winter resort village in Greece with only stone made buildings, after ski bars, coffee shops and restaurants. Really a must for winter fun.

It's unique for Greece. Too much snow and good slopes for skiing and snowboard. Well equipped and nearby to picturesque city of Edessa (39km). Try also www.edessacity.gr for hotels etc. Also at this part of Macedonia you can access easy 6 more ski resorts.
