The only reason I get a pass at Meadows is because it is closest to my home. That is the only reason. If there were any other better resorts, I would choose them 9/10 times. The parking lot/lifty/rental staff up here are so dumb and rotten in nearly every single encounter I have with them, it makes me want to puke. Think you got an unlimited season pass for '17 and some perks (like they list on the website)? Guess again. Meadows sneakily shafted all of their long time pass holders this year and actually removed pass features! Shady and lame.
Soo much negativity on here. The lines aren't that bad if you ski something other than Mt. Hood Express and the skiing is just fine. I have seen lines just as bad or worse at most other resorts depending on weather closures. As to those complaining about Season Ticket holders that just hang out in the lodge, who cares? That should reduce the lift lines, no? The only thing that sucks about Meadows is highway 35 can be a bit worse than just getting to SkiBowl or whatever. Don't bother coming to Meadows on a powder day unless your car is ready and I don't just mean has AWD. Chains or snow tyres on poor road condition days please.
I live in Portland and I've been a season ticket holder at Meadows for 6 years. As a season ticket holder, I go skiing twice a year; always on a weekend or holiday. You can always tell a season ticket holder from Portland because they keep telling you that they are season ticket holders. Mt Hood Meadows loves Portland season ticket holders because they pay $500 or more to say they are season ticket holders and only go skiing a couple times a year. Mostly, they sit in the lodge and tell the other season ticket holders that they are season ticket holders.
Meadows often brags they have the best terrain on Mt Hood. They do not, SkiBowl does. Meadows has the best terrain that gets consistent snow on Mt Hood. They also have lines, lots of them. Meadows is the most crowded mountain I have ever been to. The conditions are routinely overshadowed by having to merge in their lift lines with people who don't know what that means, or by getting run into on the hill by people who think they are "charging" which apparently means out of control in this region. The best days I've ever had at Meadows were icy ones when less than a hundred thousand people showed up to ride the 3 lifts they open before noon. Meadow drastically needs an expansion or an ownership group focused on experience not just profit.
The ticket price keeps going skyward so you either need to get a season's pass or go somewhere else. Which is why I have largely changed over to cross-country skiing and I am looking forward to getting into split boarding and finding the elusive powder. But other than the ticket price, I like Meadows and their staff. What I don't like are the cig smokers who pollute the air I try to breathe. Yet another reason to switch over to cross-country (no smokers on the trails).
Cons: the runs are short and there's no hill that's a consistent black diamond. Rather they're blue hills with some black diamond shoots available but once you ski those hundred or two hundred meters you're at the bottom of the hill and normally taking a trail to the bottom of the lift. Sort of like S. California skiing (only good) rather than Utah skiing, for example. There is a whole hill that's double blacks but I haven't skied that yet.
Pros: there's one lift that gets busy. The rest really don't. I had to park in the second overflow parking one day and it was full but the lift at that lot had like 6 people in line (everyone else must have taken a shuttle to the main lodge). Granted that lift is the furthest from the main lodge but it's also maybe the best part of the hill. Bottom line is only ski the main hill at the main lodge if there's no one there. Otherwise, ski one of the other three or four hills and half dozen lifts. And, PS, some of those short black diamond runs are pretty awesome.

Meadows still has the best terrain and snow conditions on the mountain, period. Great service and an excellent ski school to boot. Why go anywhere else?
Bonus, snow conditions are ice age throwback this year, so get up here!
Lines, lines, lines, lines.
Getting into the parking lot, getting a ticket, getting on the chairs, getting some food. Sad, but most could be avoided with decent staff. Get it together Meadows.
4/14/2015 6-10 inches of new snow. On what is probably the last chance for a powder day in the worst season in memory, is Mt Hood Meadows open? Nope. 'Nuff said.
Meadows is awesome! Even during this year, the lowest snowpack since I have been a season pass holder. Meadows has figured out how to make you feel like you're at a ski resort.
Shooting Star runs have been the superstar this season.
Cascade has been awesome, too. Sooo much fun to ride Outer Limits. Vista has been nice on the inside runs, but the Vista Ridge has been rocky.
I always have a great time here and am glad that I'm a pass holder. It's hard to imagine a winter weekend not spent at MHM.
