I read the post from another reviewer placed on March 19; I believe I witnessed the incident in the lift line, at Mt Hood Meadows, that she described. A big guy; 6'4, 250lbs came all the way from the other side of the lift tower and got right in some guys face and would not let him get past him. After shoving the big guy aside to get by; the big guy jumped on the back of the other guys snowboard and would not let him move. There was pushing and shoving both ways all the way to the chair. I'm not sure what happened on the slope but, if the big guy had a problem, he should have gone to the ski patrol not provoke a confrontation in the lift line. After reading some of the comments here regarding skiers taking enforcement of the rules into their own hands and having witnessed this behavior first hand, I am concerned about the management of Mt Hood Meadows to condone this sort of action. I am a skier and my son is a snowboarder. Perhaps that big thug will decide to push my son around next time.

I live in Colorado and skied Mt Hood Meadows while visiting a friend. Fortunately, the day I was there was really nice with minimal crowds but that's not what makes me write this review. My friend was assaulted in the lift line by a large man for no reason we could see; maybe we passed him while he was standing in the middle of the run and he got mad, I don't know. It was awful; never seen anything like it. I never thought I'd say this: as a former ski patroller and someone who has friends on the patrol in California, Colorado and Utah, the ski patrol at Mt Hood Meadows really is as unprofessional as it gets. I guess they can't get a patrol job at a real resort so they take it out on the guests. I would hate to have to depend on the Mt Hood Meadows ski patrol for assistance. Commuter resort with a captive crowd from Portland and really poor management. I'll go to Bachelor next time around.

I see all of you completely hate Mt Hood Meadows. Good, tell all your friends how great Timberline is. I would much rather not have all you douchebags on these slopes. Please, tell everyone Meadows sucks and Timberline is the place to go. This is an EL Nino year, what do you expect. Washington D.C. got dumped with snow. We got dumped with rain on the mtn. If you want hero snow conditions, go to Utah. I hear there are lots of great runs there. Better yet.... Alta is a mtn just for skiers. Please stay off Meadows. If you want to shred up some nice new powder, you must search.

Anyone on this site who is bashing Meadows (Mt Hood Meadows) is spoiled. This isn't Steamboat, CO. This isn't Chamonix. This place is insane compared to anything on the East Coast. There is great snow here, just not everyday. There are fresh tracks here, just not everyday. To all the haters of Meadows: Please post where exacly the resort is that does have great snow and fresh tracks everyday. I assure you that I will see you there next season.

I skied at Mt Hood Meadows while visiting a friend in the Gorge. The comments here accurately reflect the crowd at Meadows. Everyone is a "local", everyone is an "expert". Easy to claim being an expert here even the "double black" runs can be navigated by an intermediate skier. Lots of people decked out in expensive gear like Texans at Vail on vacation. Plenty of "how I rip" talk in the lift line. There was almost a fight between a 50 year old skier and a 50 year old snowboarder in the lift line. That's a good look. I enjoyed visiting with my friend who knows all the secret stashes but keeps a pretty low profile but this place is strictly for Portland yuppies who act like rednecks. Lots of claiming going on. You can have it. This place is average at best and that's if the kooks from Portland stay home.

Somebody call the whaaambulance!! What is with all the whining and bashing going on? Don't you losers have anything better to do...like learn to ride the mountain and communicate articulately? Must be a bunch of drop outs whining because they have yet to learn to be anything other than self-centered and pissy. Sure, Meadows (Mt Hood Meadows) is a local resort...so? If you want Aspen, then get your sorry asses over there and make more room for those of us that appreciate having a decent mountain reasonbly close by. One recent post only shows how ignorant of the mountain he is. People don't know how stupid you are until you open your mouth and tell them...or in this case use a keyboard to let them know. I challenge this reviewer and the rest of you whiners to i.d. another area within even three hours of Meadows that is significantly better consistently. Well? This is the PNW and the mountains are all close to major metro areas. And, if the reviewer thinks it's crowded on a weekday, he must want the whole place to himself...which, with his attitude wouldn't surprise me in the least. What did you do, go up on a holiday Monday? While I totally support 1st Ammendment rights I also exercise them by calling people out when they are being asses. No area is perfect so quit expecting it. Learn the mountain and learn how to find the stashes (or not, and leave them to me). As others have said...don't like it there? Then go someplace else. The whining is old, tired, and boring. Get a life, it sounds like you need one. I personally enjoy riding at Meadows (Mt Hood Meadows) more than any other Oregon resort, Bachelor being second. Crystal in Washington is my favorite there, however, talk about crowds! While not perfect, Meadows management is receptive and is working on continuos improvement of the area and the experience. If you have an issue with something there, contact them directly and courteously and try and work it out. Remember, changes take time with something as seasonal and large as a ski area...be patient. With all due respect (should any be due).

On the comment about having to take 2 chairs to get to Lower Heather cannon (at Mt Hood Meadows) that is incorrect. You can take the Heather chair and traverse over through Shooting Star to Lower Heather cannon. Someone doesn't know Meadows as well as they think. You don't need to take Shooting Star unless you want to access Heather higher up. Dave.

I have hit Heather with 4' waist deep powder. I have climbed for 3 hours above Cascade with friends and hit upper A-zone on epic days. Ever ski White River canyon? My biggest issue with Meadows (Mt Hood Meadows) is that they should expand. Can you imagine connecting to Timberline or expanding all the way up Heather Canyon with an advanced chair. If Meadows could expand it could become a much better resort. Keep adding chairs! Lastly, for those of you who don't think safety is important walk by the clinic on your way out. The place is full. Also, there are deaths and serious injuiries every year. Take care, peace and shred it!!!

Who is the genius who decided to raise spring rates 20-40% during the deepest recession in modern history? This just shows the arrogance of the idiots running Meadows (Mt Hood Meadows). This is at best an average place to ski/board, and that's on a good day. If Meadows was any farther from Portland it simply would not be worth the trip. And I wish the Eric Cartman like lift operators, who normally aren't paying attention to anything, would quit harrassing me about clicking in to my step in snowboard bindings before I get off the lift. That's why I got those bindings in the first place, and I'm much more likely to fall or cause an unsafe condition flailing with one foot than being locked in.

Ok, first off I live in Portland, grew up skiing and snowboarding, have been all around the world and the United States snowboarding, and Meadows (Mt Hood Meadows) has great skiing! So quit your bitching! If you don't like it then don't come like everyone else said, and if you think it has big lift lines, then you're not a true skier and have been to very few places. Try going to Whistler or any other big name resort; it's stupid those lines can take hours. You just gotta know the ins and outs and if you don't well that's your problem so shut up! The Private Reserve, Lower Heather and upper Heather Canyon, including Clark Canyon, are awesome terrain. So kiss my ass all you Salamander, Corrdiroy riding panzys. Go ride Timberline and their so called awesome terrain. Ya right nothing but wide open crap! Bring on the Steep and Deep.
