I had the best day ever but I think it's not one of the good mountains.

Just had my best day ever on any of the local mountains. Even Whistler doesn't get the kind of grooming that we have come to admire at Seymour. These guys kick it big time.

The groomers at Seymour are some of the best in BC. Jay and Matt.were head hunted by Seymour. They were the design build guys from Cypress who built the the hill that won Canada's first gold medal at the 2010 Olympics. Veteran groomers with many years experience. In case you didn't know Seymour is touted as one of the best terrain parks in North America. [note from the editor: names of other reviewers are not included in posts.]

Seymour is there for those who live to board/ski. The other local mountains all have a feeling like they sold out. If you're looking to ride for the day and just enjoy being in the mountains Seymour is the place to be. The Mystery chair lift was upgraded last season and has improved lift times but even in comparison to the other local mountains, I'm pretty sure it almost took the same amount of time to get up just due to sheer numbers riding the lifts anyway.

To another reviewer: no ski hill will give you a refund. Everywhere gives vouchers if you have the right reason. Go to Whistler for one week like the world. Buy a day pass ride for 10 mins and hurt yourself. See if you get your 100 bucks back, Good luck dude. Ken ski blades went out in the early 2000's; let it go buddy. Great local mountain! Best value for season passes. Excellent customer service. Tons of terrain to hit if you are creative and willing to explore. Should update conditions on web site way more often!

There are too many snowboarders on the hill first of all. When I went to the rental place and asked for the short stubby skis they didn't have them anymore. That’s not great customer service and I cannot ride those long skis. Everyone in line kept snickering at me for some reason and asking me if I “got the shot for the boys” even though I wasn't there with my two sons. They didn't have snow making at the time and I prefer Grouse and Cypress because of the great groomers. For some reason all the kids riding the stunt ditch kept yelling at me and calling me Jerry, they must have mistaken me for someone else. They should have a skating rink because all the indoor ones in Richmond tend to be fairly busy and I have hurt myself many times falling because of all the traffic on the ice.

Resort.. it is not. Great local mountain though. We travel from Surrey, BC every weekend and it takes us only 45 minutes from our front door to the slopes. Enough runs for a beginner to intermediate skier/ snowboarder. Best thing is the value. Got an earlybird family season pass for $800 plus tax so about $900 total. I have 2 adults and 4 kids on this, so that's $150 each for a season pass. 3 days pays for itself. We've already been up about 7 or 8 times this year.

If you buy lift passes or lesson packages be sure to not get injured. Even with a doctor's note you can't get your money refunded. You're tied to this mountain with make up - passes or gift cards. Whether you're out for the whole season or not coming back to the West Coast, you cannot get your money back in the case of injury.

Seymour has replaced the old slow Mystery chair with a detachable high-speed quad for this year. Between double the capacity and double the lift speed, throughput should be hugely improved. Just hope it doesn't result in the mountain being overcrowded.
