Montriond regular for 10 years.
Good access by minibus from Geneva (lots of operators).
5 mins from the Ardent ski lift (regular buses).
You don't ski in Motriond, you base yourself there for really good access to the centre of the Portes du Soleil.
Enough places to eat for chalet night off (Wednesdays). Book early. Nightlife is in Morzine.
Snow is a bit of a lottery (microclimate from Lake Geneva makes it unpredictable). You can always find somewhere to ski; when it's good it's great. Check the webcams!
We stayed in Montriond for the 1st time last year instead of our usual chalet in Morzine. Montriond is a quiet village but still is within walking distance to Morzine and the brilliant thing is that from Montriond we used the Ardent lift which gave us quick access to Avoriaz, perfect, whilst also having the options of Pleney and Super Morzine. It's a great all-round area to ski in.
Been back to Montriond 4 times now and it is a lovely place. Much quieter than Morzine as it is away from the main drag, but plenty of local services and you don't get stuck in the traffic. Stayed in fantastic private chalet with easy access to road direct to Ardent/Les Lindarets area. Perfect for our family groups, but probably too quiet for radical off- pisteurs.
