Great Place for skiing and being seen in if you're an up yourself wealthy French person.
Plenty of great skiing for all abilities but that's were the good bit ends.
If they could move the border 30kms and let the Italians take over perhaps we would not have to put up with arrogant, unhelpful ski pass sellers, ignorant and down right rude lift attendants, pretencious and vastly overpriced bars; then we might consider going back!
Skiing in Barbados is very good considering the hot temperatures. When I went last year I found the nightlife was very good, as the locals were all very friendly and not snobby like the French. T,he food and drink there was excellent and, at the same time, cheap which is hard to find. A* to Barbados.

I've skied Megeve 4 times now and am pleased to say will be there again in mid Feb.
I have never been disappointed with the resort facilities or the pistes. All ages and abilities are catered for on the slopes. Can be busy in the half term week but outside of this the slopes are yours to enjoy. The views are incredible and because it's quite a low resort the snow is amazing, even caught a fresh dump last year after trying Chamonix for a day ( avoid. ) It is a little more expensive that some other resorts but with everything in life you get what you pay for. Megeve is full of French charm and character and the horse drawn carriages are a fantastic way of traveling home after a quality meal at one of the many good restaurants in the village centre.
Only 1 hour from Geneva airport. You really couldn't want any more from an Alpine ski resort.

I usually ski in the USA but I tried Megeve and I was sadly disapointed and I tried other European resorts but none of them measured up to USA and Canada.
The best resorts in Canada and the USA are:
Vail
Whistler
Banff
Aspen
Breckenridge
I seriously recommend you try them.
Great resort !
I have skied in :
Chamonix
Val d'Isere
Chatel
Tignes
Isola 2000
but none of those I think are as good as Megeve.
They may have slightly better snow, or slightly better pistes, or maybe even nightlife but Megeve covers all of those and is an all round good resort. I have been there three times. Once in 1994 which was excellent (and the snow was much better than it is today). The lift system left much to be desired though.
2003 was probably my favourite visit because I went out of school holiday time so it was deserted.
2007 was also good but the snow was of less quality.
Overall, I think this is the best ski resort in France.
Very good skiing. This is the only time I have been skiing in Europe but it is slightly better than the Australian skiing I have to say. But the night life is not as good. On the whole, a good resort.
Skiing in Megeve is ok but is nothing like skiing in Afghanistan. I have only been out once this season but there was metres of snow like nowhere else I had ever seen. Unlimited piste and the best nightlife. Another problem I found with Megeve is that it is incredibly busy. This incredibly boring guy sped past me and knocked me over, I think his name was NICK MERRICK. Anyway getting back to the point I seriously recommend you.
SKI AFGHANISTAN
We've been crashing around the Megeve pistes for about 25 years. Huge ski area with something for everyone (& expanding with La Giettaz opening up from Jaillet a couple of seasons back and rumour of a link over to Contamine from Mont Joly in the offing ...)
We stay up the mountain in La Belle Etoile in Bettex. Ski to and from the hotel boot room with easy access to all areas of St Gervais, Megeve, St Nicolas, Mt Joly, Rochebrune, Cote 2000, Jaillet and, now, Giettaz. If you've got stamina it is possible to traverse the lot in one day.
No nightlife up there, apart from what you make yourself (which is infinitely more enjoyable!)
This is a skiers resort. Up with the first lift, down with the last. Lunch at La Radaz or L'Alpette having sampled the delights of Petite Fontaine and Lanchettes. Last beer at La Boitet after a final crash down Princesse Noire.
Having been ushered off the slopes at the end of one day by the pisteurs, (having caught the very last lift to the top of the mountain and descending on a deserted piste in semi-darkness), I once came upon two Chamois standing and watching, with the top of Mt Blanc still catching the last of the peach coloured sunset in the background.
Magic.
