Who would have thought you can ski just outside of Las Vegas! Not a bad little resort. Pretty terrain and could be some great skiing when the upper mountain (no chair access) is open. They could do a better job with their terrain park and build some kickers and add more jibs but that may be later in the season when they get more snow. They have snowmaking but not sure if they are inclined to make snow. Easy access from parking lot to main lodge and lifts. Some of the lifties are cool, others not (girl complaining about the long day at 10 a.m.!). This resort has potential if managed properly (last comment aimed square at Powder Resorts).

People are having serious injuries or death here every year not doing anything extraordinary or challenging. For example, triple diamond skiers falling after hitting hidden holes at base of mountain because of misplaced markers and rocks in the middle of poorly groomed runs; staffed by kids, Lord of the Flies style in the middle of nowhere. Avoid. Recommend Mammoth/June (4hrs north of here via 95->266) and note that children ski free at June. Mt. High/Bear Mt. (3hrs south of here off 15) are safer and less money, but a distant second to Mammoth/June. Hate to rag on this place, but I think it's unsafe and should close.

Spent a day here in April 2005. Loads of snow - but not all runs open due to a major avalanche earlier that season. The runs are short but good fun. Lots of kickers and a half-pipe. Friendly staff and great rock music blasting from the on piste cafe. Its forty-five mins from Vegas and worth going to for a day.
