La Grave is not for everyone. If you like touristy resorts with groomed pistes this is not for you. This is pure mountain skiing in an (almost) unspoiled setting.
Visited for the first time in 2012 and fell in love with the place.

Lifts are old and slow and route finding is near impossible. There is one piste and it's very short. If it's your first time a guide isn't a luxury it's essential, especially if the weather is changeable and you risk white outs.
That said it's the most incredible place I've boarded in 25 years.
A real gem. Fantastic skiing/snowboarding in a beautiful setting. A guide is a good idea if you want to get the most out of the place and essential on certain routes. Fantastic.
Great place for all skiers who like steep off-piste slopes, nice tree skiing and without climbing.
Go to this place with a guide to get everything out of it. The "slopes" that most people follow are overcrowded. The guide will certainly find you the best snow.
