Update, went out today Tuesday Jan 16, 2024 and they had groomed Timber Cruiser skiable and big foot skiable. No family paying full price, just 2 of us and we had a fun time
This mountain needs to bush-wack their runs before winter and with 162 cm base would be able to groom and even ski the blacks.
Hope this mtn. gets the message that weed trees and evergreens are not fun to get around.
No snow at Christmas break was so sad for us as we had to keep our grand kids entertained, but that's not the mountain's fault. But on the weekend of opening the grooming on Timber Cruiser, Big Foot, Weaver, Abobinal and Roddy's was horrible. The only one who enjoyed the slopes were out by the outriggers (black). This was a total of 2 people from 8 of us out of 8 people. 3 paid full price and the rest have Gold passes. We realize that the snow was problematic but the grooming should have been pristine, not just one swipe on 2 runs. Also, went in for lunch at 12:30 and received our food by 2pm. That left, after eating, only an hour to ski those awful groomed runs.
It's been a few years since we made it up to this hill, but decided to purchase a Gold season pass for the 23-24 season so we could have a Xmas family holiday. It seemed like the right thing to do even though they don't offer a seniors discount for those over 65. Not sure how many 74 year olds you know that still ski but that's where they have a senior discount. Anyways, as the weatherman did not come through with snow at Xmas this year our Gold ski pass doesn't seem like a great idea anymore. It appears the mountain will now open mid January so we could have purchased the much less expensive Silver Pass as most of the Blocked Out dates are behind us. There is some serious thinking to do regarding the pricing and how to compensate all those Gold Pass holders. Our family still went up the mountain for Xmas and enjoyed the aerial park and walking about in the sun and dry hill. The lack of snow is not the mountains fault but how they respond to all those who purchased those Gold passes to ski at Xmas will be very interesting. I will let you know how it went at seasons end. Hope I have something positive to report as in retirement I plan to spend some time skiing with my full price Gold Pass! I also hope to find out how many 75 year old skiers I find on the hill.
We have been coming up for many years now and I will agree with some others about the pricing Sasquatch thinks he is a big mtn. But hate to say it you are a quaint little mtn, which we enjoy, but having a hard time to digest the lift ticket pricing.
We love the riding',tubing, snowshoeing on all parts of the mtn. The powder and blue skies were a treat.
I feel for the staff who have to put up with those who don't comply to the rules. The parking attendant was excellent, a true people person. She loved her job.
Overall, love it. Just didn't like the turtle slow chairs and the pricing to ride.
Greasiest mountain I’ve ever been to. Staff is disrespectful, prices are outrageous, in the past 3 years I’ve seen the day passes jump from 70-90 with each season? Yet the staff salaries haven’t been raised? This place will go under very shortly if they continue the way they are, $90 for a day pass on the worst mountain in the Fraser valley? No thanks.
This place is a joke. They make you pay $600+ for a silver season pass and then they hit you with blackout dates that last 2 weeks after opening day, wtaf, absolutely pathetic. They’ve also raised daily lift tickets 3 years in a row. It was always $70 for endless years and now it’s gone from $79-80-90 each year. Some loser in management is on a power high, and thanks too him they’re now losing 4 silver pass members for next year. Never buying a season pass for this carnival mountain again.
Haven't commented too much but we have been out and about at Sasquatch and this year has been the best riding year with the new quad and spring break was great. The snow stayed cool enough so we didn't stick much at all. (One day) With covid there were restrictions but still got to enjoy a glass of wine outside in the snow storm on Sunday. Staff were great.
This year we noticed that grooming was great most of the year. Off-piste on those powder days was enjoyable.
One thing I still have to complain about is the pricing for a small mountain terrain.
Great mountain with wide open usable terrain, short lines, great views and plenty of potential. The terrain is great and snow abundant. The vertical drop posted is somewhat misleading at 1300', as it is 1100' with the highest point of 4320'at the top of the green chair not the red chair, either way that will improve with the future expansions to adjacent mountains.
[note from the editor: we display information suggested by the staff at this ski area.]
Great family hill with so much potential.
This past year: 2016/17 was incredible. Who says Hemlock doesn't get any snow? With 900+cm last winter I had so many 18"-30" of powder days it was unreal. Go to other local mountains with high speed lifts/lines and it is all tracked up within a couple of hours. Even on the busiest of days if all the chairs are running the lift wait is minimal at SMR. It has been good to see some improvements lately like the magic carpet (which needs a cover like Mt. Seymour so the staff does not need to clear snow off it on snowy mornings and could focus on other morning start up operations). They also need a reliable generator for the frequent power outages so Sasquatch (green) chair could remain operational. It would be great to see night skiing on the Skyline (red) chair instead of Sasquatch chair as it is not nearly as likely to be closed due to wind/cold on that side of mountain. Looking forward to the future development and increased terrain once pre-development hurdles are crossed.
Great little mountain and good snow, but service could definitely be improved. All ski resorts I've been to clear off their chairlifts when it's snowing. We were there the other day with heavy snowfall and no one lifted a finger. Not only is it incredibly cold to sit on an inch of snow, it's also very unsafe. I tried to clear it myself, but it was too difficult and when I sat on it, I almost slipped off a couple times. We had to leave early because our butts were frozen and our pants soaked. I would not feel safe taking my kids on these lifts in the snow. In addition, their crew is young and not well trained in operating the lifts (one was stuck for 10 min) and customer service: didn't even move to retrieve the pole I lost getting off the chair in front of his booth. A first aid attendant walked up the hill to get it for me.
