There has been a good snowfall this week but if you can delay...go for it! The second section at Gulmarg just opened yesterday and, even though we had a couple of good turns, rocks are there and you should always stay alert.

You don't need a package to go to Gulmarg. It's so easy, get your visa and a tkt to Delhi. Buy a TKT to Srinagar by cleartrip .com. In front Srinagar airport there is a taxi park to get a taxi to Gulmarg, 30 km away. It's cheap and fun. Dont worry about soldiers and guns everywere, it's for your security. Kashimire people are lovely people. Care with Friday in Sirinagar, sometimes there a strikes betwen Kashmirs and Indians soldiers and Kashimir police. Gulmarg, it's a small village in a place after Tangmarg, the last vilage before Gulmarg. In Tangmarg there is a gate with a local people ask a tax to go to Gulmarg. It is not so much and if you ara a private taxi you will have to give or you will no pass. Kashimir way!! There is many small supermarkets in Gulmarg, bank office with eletronic cash, fruits, chocolats everything that you need. Nice restaurants, Bakshi is the best, ski rentals, souvenirs, and a lot of hospedation. from 500 INR. In the village there is a beginners slope groomed, in the mountain not. It's a free ride paradise, long walks put you in a virgin way. The gondola is a 10 minute walk from the village, nice walk to prepare your legs, but you can take a taxi. Around the gondola to be the main best hotels and expensive too. Don't buy a day tkt to ride, buy single tkts. You don't know how many runs you will support. Gulmarg is a fantastic snowtrip, really soul snowbording. 2012, I'll back to the front.

Hi, Someone told me that for now conditions are not quiet favourable to enjoy the great potential of the place (Gulmarg). It might be reasonable to delay any trip until consistent snow fall occur! Maybe people reading this and who are in the place can keep us in touch with the conditions more precisly? Thanks and regards, Thomas

I'm on the Gulmarg now. There is no snow here, only a lot of rocks (my poor snowboard!!!) . If you already have a ticket to India it will be better if you'll spend the first part of your trip in the south (Goa) and waiting a real snow, because here is nothing to do!!(((((

We're going tomorrow to Gulmarg! It seems that the weather changed and they got mountains of snow now. So we are hoping for deep powder. I read on the web that there was a huge avalange at Gulmarg and destroyed a military camp. 17 soldiers been killed and a lot enjured. So don't let us forget about the danger of the mountains and remember the death and the family lost their relatives.

Yesterday, on 26-12-09 - Sunday, I, with my family and friends, went to Gulmarg. I saw that there was very little snow. I was shocked on seeing this. Previous year also we went and there was a lot of snow on half way only.
