5th Time this year - Great family resort - No posers.
Ski lessons are available for the kids and the locals are very friendly.
Supermarket in Val d'Allos (bit expensive) some quaint shops in Foux.
Skiing is very good value and plenty of it in Foux , Seignus and Pra Loup, along with a couple of toboggan areas and an ice rink in Foux.
Highly recommended for the family and beginners - A sample of small bars and restaurants but No real night life as such, so not so good for single sex groups.

Superb resort but Le Seignus just 10 minutes down the road is even nicer. Bargain flights to Nice, and easy drive into the mountains and 2 hours later you're in France's sixth biggest ski area of 230km.
We managed flights, car hire, door step skiing apartment and a full area 6 day lift pass for £220 per person based on 4 sharing. It's no wonder I've stopped using package holidays, they're too expensive. The lift system is a little old but the skiing is fantastic, certainly better than many of the rip off northern Alps resorts. Pay 4 Euros for a litre of wine - on the slopes!!!!
Le Seignus offers 50km of piste with a further 180km from La Foux d'Allos 10 minutes away by car or free bus. Hopefully the tour operators will stay away as this is real French skiing with all the locals being very friendly. You can even have a day off and visit Monaco or Cannes. Absolutely Brilliant.

Really surprising resort. Because nobody you come across (apart from the locals) has heard of it, despite the fact that it's a BIG linked ski area - not just the pisted runs, but lots and lots of off-piste possibilities as well.
There used to be a British tour operator that had La Foux on the books, but they went bust in the couple of years of Alpine snow drought in the late 80's. So it's now just a case of getting a cheapie flight to Nice (Easyjet etc.), hiring a cheap car for the 2-hour drive, and renting a chalet/apartment yourself. It will be the cheapest skiing holiday you've ever had, but with surprisingly good skiing conditions as well!
Highly recommended!

Highly recommended - no lift queues to speak of, the pistes were almost empty, there was good snow and loads of sun. There's no shortage of skiing - over 130 miles of pistes which are spread over a few mountains/valleys. Lift pass and ski hire are noticeably cheaper than in better known resorts.
La Foux links to Pra Loup (which has bigger hotels) and the Pra Loup side was a bit busier but nothing like the traffic jams I've tried to ski through in other resorts (Risoul, Verbier, Deux Alpes, Soldeu and Isola 2000).
Travelled and stayed independently - none of the major UK operators go there as you can only reach the resort from Nice airport (about 2 hours away). No package operators means a relaxed, family-friendly, atmosphere.
The only drawback is that the nightlife's a bit quiet but if you're after a holiday where the skiing is the main thing and want to try somewhere different then give it a try.
