"March Madness" As Snowfall Hits Australia In Early Autumn
Winter made an early-season entrance in Australia overnight, with a polar blast from the Antarctic dumping up to 15cm of fresh snow on the slopes as temperatures tumbled to around -2.C.

We wish you a wonderful Maundy Thursday in SkiWelt! Starting at 11:00 AM, a free “witch’s potion” will be served at the small ice rink in the enchanted winter wonderland in Söll at the Hexenwasser gondola station, while at the same time the Ski Cinema in the old farmhouse “Hexerei” on the Keat slope will be open from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. From 11:30 AM, “T.B.G. by Da Vinci Family” invites you to a party coffee gathering with hits from the 80s, 90s and 2000s, before the Tenner Stadl in Hopfgarten rounds off the afternoon with lively après-ski vibes starting at 1:00 PM. Excellent resort, best for freeriders. Note that during periods of heavy snow or wind the connection to Saalbach may be shut and if so, skiing is very limited to a few runs in Fieberbrunn (happened 3 days in a row in Jan 2022). Best place to stay fore skiing is around the Bergbahn, but if you are taking the bus then there are plenty of places down the hill in Fieberbrunn. Walking to the Bergbahn is not a great idea as it's uphill and not a good path. Best off-piste guide companies are S4 and Widman, both at the base of the Fieberbrunn Bergbahn. The best option is the free bus 8301/8302 which does a small circuit of the area. Other buses also travel the route. Beware. VVT, who run the bus service, are not good. Unlike every bus system in the world, they don't show the bus route number (8301/8302) on the front of the bus, surly drivers won't talk, and the internal display often doesn't work. A bus will turn up, but VVT make it difficult to determine if it's the right one.
