Frankly, I think Donner Ski Ranch is a pretty lame resort. I would say it's only good if you want to teach skiing to your kids, as they have good instructors and skiing is cheap (20$) but the mountain is small and anybody else than a beginner will get bored. Also the snow quality is usually not so good.
