I post this review reluctantly, as after a second highly successful visit to the Hochkonig area I don't really want anyone to find out about it. The place is fantastic for Intermediates upwards, with great slopes and a very modern lift system.
This year we visited 26th-29th January and experienced some excellent powder conditions following steady snow the first couple of days (snow had been a bit sparse prior to this, but most slopes were open due to good snow making capacity).
The Hochkonig is made up of four resorts, with Dienten being one of the middle two, with, in my opinion, the best slopes. The choice of mountain huts is great, with good value food and drink. Restaurants, in the village, are a bit limited (we were told the inhabitants of Dienten only number ~750) but everyone is friendly and helpful, with prices being reasonable.
I suspect we will return again in Jan 2014.
