I just want to reply to another review.
Actually, I am a ski instructor in Czech Republic but i know very well Campo Imperatore and Abruzzi 'cause i love Appennini.
I think that the phrase "I don't think they have any night-skiing" of the review summarized her/his review. She/he was searching for a commercial/very tourist holiday, in U.S./Aspen/St. Moritz style.
Yes, it is true that there is no night life or night skiing in Campo Imperatore, as for all Appenini (and the night skiing is not used in the Alps and Europe at all); if you search for that you should go to another place. But Campo Imperatore is a place in the middle of the 3rd biggest National Psark in Italy. It is a very, very alpine mountain in the very south of Europe, it's very snowy in the middle of the Mediterranean sea. In the Gran Sasso there is the southern most European glacier (Calderone). Animals live there that are alpine or north Europeans (bears, wolves and more over); it is geologically alpine.
If you search for nature, for a special and rare nature (a north European isle in the middle of the mediterranean sea), that's the place for you. Simply wonderful.
