Extremely deceitful information for snow depth - top of the slopes hardly have 10cm - 160cm indicated. Even off-piste snow hardly reaches 100cm. In the resort the situation is similar with some artificial snow saving the season. A big question is: if Borovets claim 150-160cm of snow, why 50% of the slopes are closed due to lack of snow? Is it complete incompetence for the slopes grooming team or everything is a complete lie? The worst thing is that this is not happening only this season - it has been like that for many years, bu regular snowfall managed to cover to some extent the incompetence, laziness and greed of Borosport...
Does anyone know where you can do your own laundry in Borovets? Are there laundry machines available anywhere? The laundry service prices at the hotels are really high. :(

Have holidayed in Borovets on several occasions. This year was the first with children under the age of 4 plus an infant. Booked in with kindergarten and creche. What the parents found was little interaction with the children, no age appropriate toys, children being left to watch TV and no significant report on the children i.e. what they had eaten especially regarding the infant, no real info about what had occurred throughout the day. Would be extremely reticent about leaving children with them again.
Recently I had a very bad experience at Borovets. As I was getting off the chair lift I was hit by the chair which was moving very fast. I did not have time to get away so the chair knocked me down and broke a bone in my pelvis. As the accident was not my fault I am considering of issuing the ski center. Most of the ski facilities are of old technology and outdated. The staff of the ski center do not care about their visitors. Strongly recommend it for skiing.
Borovets is a great resort. Some walking required if not staying at rila hotel. 2 maim ski areas well managed. Resort is mafia controlled so no poor behaviour ever seen at any time.
There is a supermarket in the centre of Borovets called ALBI or similar. It is very handy in terms of its location but the customer service is shocking. I bought a simple but reasonably expensive bottle of wine which had the stem cracked and came away when I took the cork out. I returned to the store 20 minutes after purchasing the wine and asked for a replacement. In no uncertain term I was told it it was my problem and nothing to do with them.
I have never had such a poor purchase experience in terms of issue resolution. I felt as though I was dealing with the Borovets mafia rather than shopkeepers.
I really felt like I was just a target for them to make money from and they had no responsibility for what they sold.
The whole experience has shocked me and all over a bottle of wine which probably cost them £10 .
I agree with another reviewer except for the food which I think is much better than France. And the wine is very good too.
I've been twice this year. Wish I was there now.
The review by another user is a complete lie. The skiing is very good and has improved over the years. Grooming is much more professionally done, there are plenty of snow cannons, and I don't know of any advanced runs that cross beginner runs except 2 near the village. He probably works or is connected to Bansko or Pamporovo resorts, hence this fake review!
It's a great budget ski experience. Don't expect Meribel ski/accommodation/food quality. But then again it's a hell of a lot cheaper!
Dear all,
Borovets is a nice place to be but it is risky to ski there. The slopes for advanced skiers are crossing the slopes for beginners and the slopes are negligently prepared with icy spots and snow heaped in places. This all is a precondition for accidents. The ski lifts are maintained all on the surface; they stop frequently and the gondola had to be scrapped years ago. So be careful when skiing in Borovets!
