Alto del Padre :
An extensive area for both randonne, heliski, snowmobiles, etc. Of winter activities, the sector has perhaps one of the most dynamic extensions in South America for practicing free-skiing and a couple of hours from Santiago SCL.

Summer is definitely a mecca for downhill, trekking, whitewater kayak, fly-fishing. The sector offers many places with very cheap local cuisine; a symbiotic place for mountain lovers. Let's see what happens in the future during the evolution of this magnificent place .....
The offer is mild (ed?) for transportation and lodging, but the Chileans are always ready to receive visits with Chilean wine and a roast lamb Palo.

Alto del Padre is a growing backcountry ski area, located in the heart of the Chilean Central Andes. The place is a huge area that used to be tracked by Chilean Cowboys. Proof of this are the rustic shelters you can see in the steppe used to survive when the storms came. We've been there snowmobiling and skinning up with Alpine Touring Skis; got some runs in inc a two or three thousand feet vertical drop run. Last year they were just starting building Dusty Rodes and a small mountain lodge at five thousand feet, I guess this year might be done.
I bet it could be one of the greatest backcountry ski areas in the Central Andes in the short-term.
