After the Sapporo olympics of 1972, Japan invested wildly in ski resorts but a combination of economic stagnation, declining population and a strong currency took their toll and the bubble burst. White Pass has some of the best Powder in WA. Since they doubled their size in the 2010-11 season, they are never crowded. Even on the busiest days of the season, the longest lift line is 10-15 minutes. The terrain has everything from cliffs and steeps to super easy bunny hill for beginners and everything in between. If you want to ski, White Pass is the place to go.
