Visitor Reviews of Monts-Jura

Erik P. Bergh from Switzerland writes:

The La Faucille area, which is a quick 30-35 minutes drive from downtown Geneva, is perfect for beginners and intermediate skiers. The pistes are perfectly groomed and last the whole day, even during weekends when there are quite a few people visiting. The queues are not long so you get to do a lot of skiing in a short time. Most of the pistes are in the forest area, which is nice since is protects you from the (once in a while) howling northerly Bies wind. Another advantage is that you will not get any avalanches there if you like to do off-piste.
In most of January and February, the Lake Leman (Geneva) and the lower lying areas up to approximately 900 metres above sea level, are covered in thick fog. But the Monts Jura area has lots of sunshine and the view to the Mont Blanc massif and the rest of the Alps is breath taking.
There are two or three hotels next to the pistes, so you will never live far away from the action. Check out the web-site www.monts-jura.com. Even though the area is in France, the border crossing with Switzerland is a piece of cake and does hardly slow you down.
Enjoy!
