El Fraile summaryEl Fraile is located near Coihaique and the Argentinian border. It is one of the most remote ski fields in South America. There are no other resorts for 620 miles but plenty of natural attractions e.g the Austral Highway. El Fraile is tree-lined, unlike many other areas in Chile and the powder slopes appeal to all levels of ability. Services at El Fraile are minimal but there is a ski school and ski hire available. There are a cafe, repair shop and fist aid station. The season runs from late-May to late-September. Resorts close to El Fraile include:
