Utah’s Sundance ski area has announced a new high-speed quad lift and will make two significant terrain expansions over the next few years.
The new Electric Horseman Express and the two significant terrain expansions totalling 165 acres won’t be opening next winter (except for previews) but are planned to debut the season after, winter 2026–27 season.
The new lift will start near the base of the Wildwood Lift and traverse across the Far East Ridge, bringing skiers and riders to the top of Red’s Lift at Bearclaw Summit, enabling top-to-bottom skiing and snowboarding on all new and existing “back mountain” terrain.
This high-speed quad has been designed to dramatically improve access across the mountain, opening two new areas for skiing and unlocking 165 acres of new terrain with 1850 feet of continuous vertical.
The terrain expansions will also include a new bowl adjacent to the Bishop’s Bowl and multiple new trails, including a groomed run along the Far East Ridge. Poised to become a signature run in Utah’s ski community, the ridge run will offer breathtaking 360-degree views of Utah Valley, Heber Valley, and three mountain lakes, a statement from the resort claims.
“This project represents Sundance Mountain Resort’s most significant mountain expansion since 1985 and will further elevate the ski/rider experience on our mountain while offering new view corridors and perspectives never seen before – one of the reasons I am personally excited for the new Far East ridge run,” said Chad Linebaugh, President and General Manager of Sundance Mountain Resort.
Sundance was founded by actor Robert Redford, and its new ownership group are continuing to aim to balance development with Redford’s passion for preservation of the resort’s location and heritage.
