Norwegian Glacier Resort Reports Lifts Buried by 10m (33’+) Of Snow

A glacier ski area which usually opens in spring and summer each year has reported it has had to play “find the ski lift” after winter snowfall buried parts of its drag lift, including the overhead cables.

Fonna ski area, one of three Norwegian summer-only glacier destinations, says the snow depths of up to 10 metres (over 33 feet) are the most its seen at this point of the year since 2015.

Fonna plans to open for its 2024 season on 17 May, with pre-booked teams able to open from 1 May. The lift, hopefully dug out by then, is due to run from 9am to 3pm daily.
