The best free-ride and rando place in East Pyrenees: nice snow, nice people and epic weekend in Tavascan.
Much better for alpinism than for ski on the slopes. However, you will have a really good experience there (if you love mountain and not their luxurious places like Andorra).
The weekend that I went there wasn't a lot of snow but I'm in love with this resort and the awesome people who work/live there.

Tavascan is a unique ski resort in the northern part of the Pallars Sobira (Catalan Pyrenees). It is very small; so small it only has 1 ski lift, one draglift and a little beginner lift. The thing that makes Tavascan unique is the environment in which it is located. Big mountain lines are available all around the small resort, and La Porta del Prat is a perfect place to stay. True ski-in ski-out mountain hut with extraordinary local food and well priced. Again, it is okay if you are a beginner because of the price, hut the runs, even the blue ones are steep. Anyone who enjoys mountains will find something to do here. Snowshoeing, skiing the slopes, side-country or backcountry skiing is excellent. There's also nordic skiing and even cat rides. The vertical drop the resort offers is modest (500m) the height goes from 1750m at the base to 2250m at the top. But if you aren't scared to walk you can have very long runs, 1100m of height drop if you descent the Pic de Ventolau (2848m). Snowfall in Tavascan is also generous, this is evidenced by the amount of snow canons: 1. Furthermore, powder runs can be made weeks from the last snowfall since it is uncrowded and all slopes are in the shadow. I recommend this to anyone who isn't afraid of visiting an authentic experience in amazing mountains.
