Hi folks, chiming in to spread the good word about Killington this season. The new management is blowing the doors off the old with very agressive snowmaking and customer satisfaction program. Skiers are in charge of the mountain now and skiers are thrilled about it. Killington is returning to it's glory of 'Beast of the East'. The Superstar glacier is growing, expect it to make it well into May this season (if not June for those who don't mind hiking for turns). Come get some! Killington rocks!

Hold on to your socks folks, this one is going to blow you away. Killington Ski Resort opened for skiing and riding October 13th! The earliest opening in recent memory. The new president of Killington, Mike Solimano, is single handedly changing the corporate philosophy. He's local to the area and knows what eastern skiing is all about. If you're thinking about coming to Killington this season, I think this one might be special.
I've got two great days of skiing in so far,...could be a big year! And after last season, we need it.
This season will likely go down as one of the worst in the history of Killington in terms of season length and snowfall. Reduced snowmaking budgets have finally shown their ugly side as the mountain is in full shut down mode. Lifts and trails are closing rapidly. With a warm spring and no signs of cold temperatures, the snowpack is disappearing, and fast! I expect the mountain to be down to a single lift within a week or two, and wouldn't be surprised to see them close up all together by April 1st. If you have long range plans at Killington, be prepared for an early closure, or extremely limited terrain. Choose your trips wisely, Killington may not be worth it the rest of this season.

Hi folks, checking in from sunny Killington. Things have been fast and furious the last few weeks with lots on sun and hardpack. No significant snow in a while, and not much on the horizon. About half the mountain is open, all that being snowmaking terrain. The natural stuff hasn't faired so well... There is enough icy base everywhere. 12" and the moutain is 100% open. Do those snow dances folks, your friends at Killington need it. With only 85 inches of snow so far this season, KIllington needs over 150 inches in the next two months to reach its seasonal average.

Well folks, the season is on. .. or as good as it gets. ... the Killington snow staff are fighting a valiant fight. I myself managed to catch 3 consecutive days of powder on and in the area, for a total of 18" ... no less than five a day. Pay attention to this page. .. pay attention to the systems out West, make your best guess, .. pull the triggerrrrr. Find your own freshies!
Killington opened for the season in October, and struggled early just to stay open, due to unseasonably warm weather. However, the cooler temperatures have finally allowed them to rapidly expand terrain. Like every area in the NE, they are in catch-up mode, but have lead the pack all season with number of lifts, number of trails, and total acres open. The just opened Umbrella bar right at the base of Superstar is sweet place to meet for an apres-ski drink.

Well, the skiing so far this season in the Northeast sux... Killington has been the only resort in the east to survive the warm weather without having to close since opening in October. Cold snap for the next few days, but it looks like warm weather again towards the middle of the month. Could be quite the crappy Christmas this year in terms of skiing. Less than 10% of the mountain is open right now. Old man winter needs to show his face soon!

Killington is putting on a show this fall, as they have been the only game in town so far this season. The upper peak walkway has allowed nearly a month of skiing before the resort could blow snow down to the base lodge. As the holiday approaches, K is expanding as fast as they can with snowmaking down to K1 base. Expect 3 mountain areas for Thanksgiving. Gobble gobble, get some!

Almost 6 weeks and more than three feet of snow since our last period of above-freezing weather, and there are some wonderful snow conditions at Killington. Virtually everything is open and there are tracks leading into the woods seemingly everywhere you look. Snow is being stockpiled...for the first time in years, the snow level on superstar is above the lift towers in places. The Mtn Dew event left Bear Mountain with amazing snow levels (where the slopestyle was held on Bearclaw, they redistributed the 4-story takeoff and landing ramps...in spots the snow must be 20 feet deep) and the pipe is still in perfect shape.
It is awesome skiing and riding, some of the best in years!
Come on up!
Many many years at Killington now - sadly only a couple of week long trips a year. Here's the good: Large, western-size area to ski; challenging blacks and nice long cruisers; lots of night time options with friendly people; many good/great chefs appear on the mountain; many many options for lodging. The not so good: Weekends with the rushed and rude crowds; hotdog skiers and snowboarders; changing services. We still love it though.
