Don't believe the online piste reports... I got burned. I was expecting 4 feet of snow, and when I got there.... surprise only 1 run working , and everybody on it. I had to leave after spending all the time and money to get there.... If you want to know conditions, you need to call them and have them tell you.... I will never believe online conditions again for planning a trip.
Don't waste your time coming to Jackson, the people are rude and the terrain gets picked over fast!
The locals can have their mountain, as it would be more fun to ski somewhere that is challenging but visibility is better than this place. Some guy threw my skis off the tram dock because I was trying to get up to my friends who were about 20 ppl ahead. Just rude! Since when is it a crime to try and be with your travel buddies?
The terrain is inconsistent top to bottom as well.
I won't waste my precious time being snubbed or ridiculed as there are many awesome resorts to ride!
Jackson Hole is righteous, great town, amazing skiing. My expectations were exceeded on every facet of this mountain. JH has everything you could ask for and then some. The lift system is well laid out for easy access to all terrain. You might of heard JH gets tracked out fast, this is true if you don't explore/poke around, and if you get to the tram at 8:45 am on a powder day you will be about 2 hours behind the first person in line, the early bird my friend. Oh yes and a shout out to all those friendly lift attendants, they really do make a difference.
Jackson Hole and the surrounding are is, for me, probably the best all round skiing are in the world minus the crowds. Jackson Hole Resort is fantastic and can cater to your wildest ambitions, in bounds and out of bounds. In the immediate area you also have fabulous and unique opportunities for ski touring in the National Parks from taking an easy hike but great snow to a tough hike and again great snow. The people of Wyoming and neighbouring Idaho are real friendly and always appreciate visitors from back in Europe. My favourite other area that compares is Argentiere where the riding is legendary. From Europe it’s a long way to get to Jackson but I promise you won’t be disappointed by the resort, the backcountry, the food, the wildlife and the people. While you are there get your skis over to Snow King in downtown Jackson and let them run, that’s a real fun and challenging downhill. During your time in Jackson you will bump into ski legends and you wouldn’t know it because they are such modest people. Jackson Hole, what a place. Possibly the cradle of US skiing! Buy yourself a copy of local DVD 'Legends of the Fall Line' and educate and respect.
Jackson Hole is a fantastic mountain with plenty of snow. Terrain tends towards expert, although intermediates will do ok. Uncrowded. Jackson Hole is a fun town. Only gripe is Southeast orientation of mountain, which exposes the slopes to a lot of sun. This tends to make the snow on the lower slopes heavy and grabby, particularly on ungroomed terrain like the Hobacks late in the season. Early season is ok on this score because temps are generally cold enough to maintain snow quality. When the powder flies, there is no better place in the world to ski than Jackson Hole.

I recently skied 7 days at the "Hole". It was my fourth time and the coverage and conditions were epic. This mountain is the real deal. The Hobacks represent 2700 feet of vertical, varied terrain, unlimited area, world class in bounds skiing and that is just a small part of this awesome place. And one can go right out the gates and ski some of the most fantastic back-country skiing in North America with an easy return to the base lifts (in some cases). Training and gear, a must, of course. Minimum crowds of people that ALL know how to ski! This is not a good transition mountain for lesser skilled skiers to advance unless they are skiing with advanced people who can guide and help the others.
It is worth the trip!
Been to Jackson twice, last year was the sickest snow fall I have seen, waist to chest deep snow on piste, try their steep and deep camps, worth every penny/cent, if you can ski or board here you can ski or board anywhere.

Jackson Hole is an amazing mountain in every aspect. The mountain gets tons of snow, however in the event it hasn't snowed in awhile and the coverage is light, it can be very dangerous. The runs are narrow and steep and bowls have many rocks and cliffs. Likely the mountain will have plenty of fresh snow and will be like no other you have been. At the top of this mountain you can see the base area, unlike most mountains the base seems closer to your feet than the horizon. Largest Vertical in U.S. This mountain is not very beginner friendly, although there is some easy terrain it is a small percentage and not very interesting, an mostly runouts which are busy. This mountain is never crowded relative to Colorado and other major resorts, likely because it is in WY which is cold and it is mostly adavanced terrain. Lift tickets are on the expensive side, but when you compare it to hiking the 6000ft everytime they suddenly seem considerably underpriced. Most similar to one of the Whistler/Blackcomb hills but with much much better and reliable snow.
When we went to Jackson and it was awesome. Huge snowfall. The runs are long and hard - definitely not the place to go if you can't ski well. However, Jackson is also famous for being incredibly cold and the winters can be brutal (50 below).
