Things are going so crazy in Bansko...especially from this season.
The prices will be so high that only foreigners with european salaries can afford it. I can go for the same price to a skiresort in Italy or France or even Austria. This year's one-day lift pass will cost 45BGN (23 EUR). Last year it was 12EUR. They are unifying the price for foreigners & Bulgarians, to which I dont agree. This is a very stupid policy. Anyway I live in Sofia and it seems that this season I will use the Vitosha mountain resort. Cant be better. I start my car and in 15min I stop infront of the lift. And my day-lift pass will cost me 6EUR.

Waiting for our third visit to Bansko and looking forward to it. Staying at the Hotel Perun which we visited last year. We go for New year and have an great time. It's cheap and since our first visit three years ago has all the facilities of the alpine resorts at a third of the price. The only problem can be the fog at the airports but fingers crossed.

My partner and I have been going skiing in Bulgaria for the last three years. We started off by going to Pamporovo but then discovered Bansko the following year and how glad we were to have discovered this gem of a ski resort. It caters better than any of the other Bulgarian ski resorts for the intermediate to advanced skier and even has some good off-piste skiing. Bansko really is a beautiful resort that hasn't been over-run like the other Bulgarian resorts, the ski school is fantastic, the locals are friendly, the pistes are well groomed and the lift systems are very modern and fast!
Conclusion: Bansko, although not as big as the likes of Chamonix's etc, is one of those unspoilt gems that has everything a skier could ever want and at a price that is within anyone's reach!. I really am hoping that all the advertising and publicity Bansko has been receiving these last two seasons from the various tour companies isn't going to destroy what is an awesome ski resort!!

Went to Bansko for our first skiing holiday 5th March 2004, Both myself my wife and our two children loved it, excellent instructors and equipment. Loved the 7 km ski road which I found was ideal for shakey beginners; it goes right from the top gondola o the bottom. Bansko was very welcomming and very very cheap, no expense spared meal for 7 with drinks £26!. Also Ski clothing very cheap, Spider jacket in snow and rock £275 Bansko £58. Booked again for same time next year.

Went to Bansko for our first snowboarding holiday this March and had the best holiday. We didn't find the slopes too difficult, being beginners, and the local ski-school we went to didn't need to be pre-booked and the instructors were excellent. All the hotels that may be a distance away provide free buses every half an hour or so to get you to the slopes and back. The facilities were great and the prices for food and drink and incredibly cheap. We loved it so much we've now bought an apartment out there and are going back next season!

I visited Bansko last week. No snow yet but they are busy prepairing for the new season. Loads of new hotels and apartments have been built. They have put in new chair lifts to connect the two stations and a 11km ski road so that you can ski back into town. I couldnt believe how cheap Bansko is. I spent less money than I would have done if I had stayed at home. If this place was in Austria or Switzerland it would not look out of place.

i was in bansko the first week of february. great value, and some fantastic skiing. the first couple of days were best, since there had been new snow the week before. they have to do something about getting back and forward between the top of the gondola and the other lifts for beginners, but for an experienced or expert, there is plenty to keep you going for a week! obviously a lot of new uplift and investment, and a lot prettier than i was expecting. highly recommended!

i ahve just moved to bansko to live , i have spent a few days hiking around the new runs and scoping out the new lifts , looks like there could be some great off piste through the trees and some nice fast red runs, the 80 new snow cannons should keep piste condition good all season!

Bansko will be the hit of the winter for sure. It is all about the new conditions, which includes new gondola, new 4 lifts, Good accomodation, cheep drinks&food. where you can find a pint of a beer for 1/2Euro and a bottle of good wine for 5EURO in a restaurant and a pub? For sure nowhere. Because Bulgaria is the country of good wine and cheep prices. at least still is. find www.banskotravel.com for more....
