Every year for the past 8 years we have come to Abetone for at least one of our winter holidays and year on year it doesn't disappoint! Contrary to what others have said, Abetone is a fantastic place for skiers and snowboarders of all levels with its fair share of tree-lined runs (Chierroni is a favourite) and wide open runs with the possibility of some off-piste skiing and the added bonus of hardly any queueing for lifts. Most of the lifts have been replaced with new high speed, high capacity lifts over the last few years offering comfortable and speedy rides to the tops of the mountain not to mention some of the spectacular views up and down the valley across miles of unspoilt alpine forest. However, the only criticism of Abetone is the weather. Abetone tends to have its very own micro-climate which can change very quickly. When the cloud and fog floats in, you can expect it to remain for the rest of the day. That said, cloud is what brings snow... and that is what we want - lots of it! Abetone already has over a metre of snow this season on the higher runs and snow conditions remain good.

Hi all winter fun seekers! I just had to tell you about Abetone. Picturesque wide slopes for all ages and abilities. It is a joy to not have miles of queues for lifts and coffee shops! Truely unspoilt at the moment, not only on the slopes but miles of forest and mountain walks. Finally, if you get a chance, visit the hotel 'Primula'. It's ok, just to pop into the bar for a combination of Italian/ Scotish humour! Run by Tizzano and Paola Tonerelli (she's the jock!), it's great to sit by the open fire and have a beer and sandwich.

Abetone is a fantastic place to ski and definitely worth a visit if you are in Tuscany during the winter months. It is an amazing experience to be skiing or snowboarding in Tuscany, a place so often associated with arts, good wines and Chianti countrysides!!!!

I really would like to thank Silvio for what he said about Abetone! I'm so happy he really enjoied visiting this resort!:-) Many, many things are being invested in over this area for the next years... new residences, new hotels, new bars, new stores and hopefully re-estabilished lifts and slopes if the new Italian Government won't stop it! We are just waiting for the snow, which is missing this year for now. Last year we already had it! :-) let the snow begin to fall!

Everyone should make a point to visit Abetone. In the summer it's cool, no A/C needed. In the late fall/winter, plenty of snow and many slops to have fun. The food is the best, all of the restaurants are very proud of their dishes. GO VISIT, YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED!

Abetone is too small for the accomplished skier and Brits would do better in the Alps.
