Sugar bowl is another esort close too sierra at tahoe, and just the same it's not too crowded and has very good snow.
It might not be enough for experts, but for beginners and intermediate it's a nice resort.
That was the favorite resort of my wife when she learned to ski, because it's relatively uncrowded ans has wide easy green trails.
