Hafjell Ski Resort Guide
Hafjell in Norway (in the East region) is a medium sized ski resort with 9 ski lifts (3 chair lifts, 6 surface lifts) that offers skiers an impressive 830 metres (2723 feet) of vertical descent. Hafjell has 23 pistes with a total length of 33 kilometers (21 miles). Hafjell is best suited to intermediate skiers and snowboarders but there is some terrain for beginners and advanced skiers. There are 300 kilometers (188 miles) of cross country ski trails at Hafjell. For snowboarders, there is a terrain park and a half pipe. Almost half of the pistes at Hafjell are covered by snowmaking. The closest airport is at Oslo but the transfer time is 2 hours. The nearest train station to Hafjell is at Lillehammer. I have been going to Hafjell for the past 4 Christmas's with over 100 Irish school children. The slopes are excellent as are instructors and staff, nothing ever seems too much trouble. We stay in Birbebeinern in Lilehammer,15mins from slopes. Excellent accomodation, food and staff. Back again in 4 weeks with another 100 young people...can't wait!!
