Vaujany Ski Resort Guide
Vaujany, in France (in the Isere region), is a large resort with 18 lifts (3 chair lifts, 7 surface lifts) that offers skiers an incredible 1700 metres (5579 feet) of vertical descent. It is part of Les Grandes Rousses ski area. Vaujany has 32 pistes. Vaujany is best suited to beginner skiers and snowboarders but there is some terrain for intermediates but little of interest for expert skiers. There are 50 kilometers (31 miles) of cross country ski trails at Vaujany. For snowboarders, there is a terrain park and a half pipe. The nearest airport is at Grenoble and the nearest train station to Vaujany is at Grenoble. There is accommodation located close to the pistes but we would welcome additional information about any hotels or chalets in Vaujany.
Vaujany is a village resort sharing the same domain as Alpe d'Huez with skiing from 3300m to 1100m and some of the longest and most beautiful runs in Europe. Vaujany is genuinely good for all standards of skier. With a world-class lift system, 123 pistes and 845 snow cannon Vaujany is one of the top French resorts - a real must for the experienced skier and a perfect place for beginners and intermediates. Runs worthy of special mention include The Champagne Run, starting at Pic Blanc (3300m) and descending down into the snowy forests of Enversin (1100m), one of the biggest runs anywhere in the world linked back into a lift system. Then there is also the Sarenne, regarded as the longest black run in Europe. And Vaujany is not only blessed with state-of -the-art lifts and fabulous skiing it also has facilities that would grace a major resort such as the modern swimming-pool and leisure centre, offering multi-gym, sauna, jaccuzi and sports hall. There is also an excellent village creche, a local ski school, an ice-skating rink, and a good selection of bars and restaurants. We would recommend that you stay with Ski Peak who support their clients with a generous complement of staff and who have a small friendly Hotel - The Rissiou, the 5star La Perle de l'Oisans apartments and five catered chalets including the award winning Chalet Saskia.

If you want world-class skiing for all levels, hardly any queues and an authentic mountain location without high-rises, Vaujany and its hamlets i.e. Pourchery & Le Perrier are hard to beat. Less than an hour's drive from Grenoble, the quintessentially French resort of Vaujany sits in a charming valley in the heart of the Oisans mountains with altitude views of Mont Blanc, Gran Paradiso and the Ecrins. Boasting one of the world's classic ski runs - the 'Champagne Run' - (a massive 2230m of vertical piste drop, click here) it provides top quality skiing for all in a setting that is both magnificent and tranquil.
Additionally, Vaujany is only 1hr 15mins simple drive from Grenoble airport and is well positioned to sample other nearby ski domains like Les Deux Alpes and Serre Chevalier.

The Vaujany cable-car opens on Saturday 13th December together with the lifts at Alpette and at Oz. Alpe d'Huez itself will be open a week earlier.
