Ještěd is a popular ski resort on the southern outskirts of Liberec. It is famous for its iconic mountain-top building. Aspirations to host World Cup events as soon as 2009 has led to the recent investment in snow-making and lifts, most notably the new chair. There is a fair variety of north-facing pistes totaling 8.5km and over 460m of vertical. Plenty of off-slope facilities and vibrant nightlife, with several other ski areas nearby. Can be crowded at weekends.
