Verbier is a fantastic resort and deserves all the plaudits. Althought it is not the prettiest resort ever, if it has good snow the skiing can be amazing. I have spent a season there and never got bored of the skiing - althought the lifts need updating and the snowpark needs drastic improvement with the inclusion of a half pipe. Nightlife can be from excellent to damaging (both head and wallet). Check out www.freeformclothing.com born in Verbier

The only thing good about Verbier is that it's on the sunny side of the mountain. The slopes are overrated, the price of a skipass is too much and the people think they're God's gift and can't ski or board. And when it gets crowded, nobody follows the well known piste rules!! Very un-Swiss. A tip, move over the mountain to Veysonnaz, Piste de l'Ours. Much much better.

As a Brit living in Switzerland, I regularly ski in Verbier. The main runs can get very crowded in peak season and I agree that some of the lifts need updating. To avoid the crowds, ski Attelas first thing in the morning and then move up to Mont-Fort or over to Savoleyres, where far fewer people seem to ski. After many years, I am still discovering new pistes.

Bottom line - there are so many better choices in the Swiss/French Alpes than Verbier for quality of snow, local hospitality, slopeside facilities, on mountain options for dining. La Clusaz is less than one hour fr Geneve, Chamonix and he whole Haute Savoie region offers more too; Les Diablarets, Adelboden, Davos, Engadine (Corvatsch, Corviglia, Lenzerheide), and even small hidden jems like Champex and Grand St. Bernard in Switzerland. I would not return to Verbier.

Verbier is a brilliant ski area if you are very good at skiing or excessively rich, preferably both. If you are not in possession of an ortovox, shovel and probe and you can talk a considerable amount of bollocks about avalanches then you are best off going to another resort. Three livers and a suitcase full of cash are your main requirements for the apres-ski.

I was there from March 19 to 26, 2005 and had a great time skiing. I found that Verbier offers a great skiing challenge, even though it is not the most beautiful village. There is certainly a lot of action après-ski. I don't recall feeling crowded on the slopes. It depends where you ski. If you ski in the ski-routes and off-piste, there is no crowd. I am going back next March expecting to find at least the same challenge. If you want both, a magic and mythic village and great ski-routes go to Zermatt.

I am pretty dissapointed to read such comments; i mean i am 20 and i probably don't see it like u wise guys... what i mean is verbier is a great off piste and after ski place. Sure the prices are high, but not higher than zermatt... it's the price to pay to ski in the YOUNG station of switzerland. Girls are beautiful, snow is great, sellers are sellers: no surprises. Hope we will see u there soon and that the few bad details won't scare u enough to do the mistake of not coming back! see u in pub mt fort!!
