Wintervacation 2005 NORDSETER
In the first week of March 05 we left for Norway in the Winter. After visiting www.visitnordseter.com on the internet and talking to some friends of ours, who has a cottage in Sjusjoen near Nordseter, we took the SAS plane to Oslo. Great experience, since we never flew before!
In the Nordseter Fjellstue in Nordseter, just above the Olympic city of Lillehammer, we spent a nice week. Friendly people at the Fjellstue and the 'Ski-Utleie' !
We also discovered that crosscountry skiing is far more demanding then downhill skiing !
We were particularly surprised by the quietness around Nordseter. We hardly saw any people and discovered the beautiful Norwegian country just by ourselves.
Nordseter, see you next year !

Alpine and snowboarding
Hafjell skicentre is the site of the 1994 Olympic Slalom and Giant Slalom events, just 15 minutes from Lillehammer. Since much of the alpine facility is located below the timberline, the facility offers excellent protection again wind, and all of 75% of the alpine facility is covered by artificial snow-making equipment. Families with children are especially welcome at Hafjell - this family-friendly centre offers a unique children's play area, where parents can take advantage of excellent baby-sitting and child care services. Hafjell also has some of Norway's longest slopes: 5,5 kilometres continuous skiing in blue and red slopes. The Snowboard Park, which has been designed by the world's best snowboarders, is also extremely popular.
There are ski buses running to and from Lillehammer to Hafjell ski centre.

Marvellous skiing terrain and good, cold winters are the stuff of successful winter holidays. The Lillehammer mountains are so well-located that the network of skiing trails alone will provide you with a suitable challenge. The Lillehammer mountains are perfect for those who love skiing. Nordseter and Sjusjoen were originally mountain farming areas, now they area among northern Europe's best cross-country skiing resorts. The Lillehammer mountains are situated about 850 metres above sea level and 15-20 kilometres from Lillehammer town centre. They can offer about 350 kilometres of cross-country skiing trails and direct trails between Nordseter and Sjusjoen to Lillehammer, the Hafjell area and the Olympic trails at the Birkebeineren Skiing Stadium.
