Snowsure: 4.5

(1) Occasionally gets enough snow for skiing, (2) is often closed due to a lack of snow, (3) occasionally suffers from a lack of snow, (4) rarely suffers from a lack of snow, (5) Lech is snowsure even in the poorest seasons.

Variety of pistes: 4.1

(1) The ski runs are featureless and unvaried, (3) the ski runs are varied but not extensive enough for a week, (5) Lech has diverse and interesting pistes including forests and high alpine terrain.

Off-piste: 3.9

We visited in March of 2003. We stayed at the Kristiania. It's a great hotel. Great rooms, food and staff. Lech is in a beautiful setting and the skiing is superb. Hire a guide and go off piste. There's something for everyone in Lech. Beware, it is expensive.

Lech and Zurs are fantastic places for snowboarding. Just got back from an Easter trip and the conditions were still excellent, our visit preceded by fresh dump. Dont be put off by people who say it is expensive - prices were about average in our experience but whatever and wherever you spend your cash, you will get excellent quality in clean and very friendly places. Most of the slopes face south and can become a bit slushy late in the day at this time of year, but stay up high at the back of Zurs and there is some great terrain, natural gullys and impressive bowls. Anyone considering venturing into the acres of offpiste terrain should seriously consider taking beacons, shovels and probes and stick together. Avalaunche potential seemed very high.

Lech is a top class resort both on and off the slopes. The village is lovely to wander around although very expensive! The whole area is just great though and it usually gets good snow - I went in April 2006 and there was tonnes of the stuff. There are plenty of lifts and the slopes are suitable for most abilities although maybe not for the very first timer. Oberlech is a village a bit up the mountain which provides a nice atmosphere and many restaurants.

Lech offers 5 star service with extra friendly people. The skiing is excellent if not the most difficult. The lift system is a dream with little or no queue's anywhere. None of the pretence you may get in some French resorts. Hotel Goldenerberg is fantastic. Annual visit ensues...

I have gone to a lot of ski-resorts in Europe but Lech and Zurs are probably the best. I recommend them for the type of snow on the pistes and also outside the pistes. Except from ski and snowboard, Lech and Zurs have good night-life and also very nice restaurants. I hope next year to go there again.

I have been to Lech/Oberlech for the past 3 years - and leaving again this coming February, 2008. Great snow and ambiance if not the most difficult runs! I fly into Zurich (from California); take subway to Haupbahnhof; take the train (2 hrs) to Langan am Arlberg and have a taxi waiting to drive me to Pension Sabine. Great small hotel right on the mountain - you ski down to get on the lift - with usual Austrian hospitality. Manage to 'do' all the surrounding area - truly my ski heaven!

Lech is a beautiful resort which has great facilities for kids, lots of blue runs for intermediates, and also has some challenging ski routes dropping off Rüfikopf - although you may want to consider a guide or enlisting a local to show you the way. While the nightlife at Lech is quiet, the cafes and restaurants are great and you'll want an early night to enjoy the mountains in any case. I'm lucky enough to be at Lech most weekends.

My wife and I have been to Lech for the past five years. Even though we have to travel during February half-term, we have never found the resort crowded. We stay at the Hotel Schwarzwand, a very friendly, family run hotel. We hit upon Lech as a compromise but will continue going on holiday there as we really do love the place.

Getting ready for my 5th trip back to Oberlech (Lech). There really isn't any better place for me. I stay at Pension Sabine where the gracious Reischl family treats me like an old friend or member of the family. Great ambience and delicious food. The Slopes at Lech are rarely crowded and for an early morning skier, like myself, you often have the entire run to yourself; Nice :) The ski-in and ski-out at Sabine's has spoiled me for any other resort.

We recently visited Lech in April 2010 (Easter) week and were surprised how quiet the resort was, we didn't have to queue for the lifts and the slopes we virtually had to ourselves at times; it was a real pleasure. Would love to go back to Lech again. We stayed at the Hotel Antonius the staff were very helpful.
