Arrived Friday, white-out Saturday, glorious clear blue Sunday & Monday and obviously great snow. Just one queue on Sunday, which was also start of French and UK school holidays. Monday none. Some of the lifts are a bit old style but they work to take you up to great bowls with pistes down the middle and great expanses for making your own tracks left and right. A bit like Avoriaz 2000 but no crowds.
Single lift link over two mountains to Pra du Loup opens up other slopes, including a non-pisted easy black. Pra du Loup busier and less varied.
Village itself has half a dozen restaurants & a couple of bars. Enough for me.
Just over 2 hours from Nice airport by car, on smallish roads, or from center of Nice by 2-car train then connecting bus 4 times/day (see "Chemin de Fer de Provence"). A bit of a rattle trap but it works.
Well worth a try, recommended.

We've had a property 20 minutes away from the La Foux d'Allos for 12 years and there have only been two out of the 12 where the snowfall has been particularly bad. 2014 the area was officially the snowiest place in France. Runs are well groomed and we've seen a huge development in the resort with old lifts replaced by express quads and a luge put in. Outside of school holidays, the resort is very quiet but there are people around, so you don't feel totally alone. Ski passes/food/drink/equipment hire is much cheaper than other resorts. Very French and family orientated. A few Brits, some expats who come up from Nice and a couple of school groups. We've skied huge resorts in the US and Canada (brilliant), but love 'our' local mountains knowing that the Med and Nice are only a couple of hours away if you get fed up of the cold!

Foux d'Allos is a great resort. I have skied for 30 years including working in some of the larger well known French resorts and have had my best off-piste powder day in Foux d'Allos due to the lack of people outside of weekends and French holidays. You nearly have the place to yourself. I have never had to wait for a lift.
Prices are very good. 3 course menu, in the town, 23 euros pichet wine 6 euros 1/2 litre beers abround 2.5 to 3 euro for a demi pression.
Whats not to like!!
It is a very French resort; not much in the way of apres-ski but a couple of bars and 2 nightclubs as well as a cinema.
My advice, keep an eye on weather forecasts and snow reports, look for a break in the weather midweek, jump on a flight to Nice (these are cheap in the winter), grab a hire car and get some of the most crowd-free 230 km of piste you will ever find let alone the masses of untracked powder!,

Fabulous skiing because outside the French holidays the resort is empty - maximum grin time with no queues. The Brits and other people haven't found this gem so it is perfect; they all go to busy Tignes instead of having fun here. The people are very friendly because it's for locals and run by locals, but they welcome anyone. Fly to Nice and drive there because it is a long drive from the UK. Le Seignus is a lot of fun for a small resort, Valcibiere is my favourite and some nice moguls. Off-piste in plenty of places if you look for the tracks of others. No decent dining up the mountain but plenty in the resort.

Not the nicest of French ski resorts. Way too far away if you are driving (last 120 miles is through the mountains with lots of ups and downs). It will take about 4 hours from the motorway to reach the resort. Not worth while at all. This resort caters for French mainly, not many foreigners around and therefore not very friendly. Nobody speaks English at all. Raised eyebrows everywhere. Stick to Tignes and Val Thorens; better.

We first visited the area to ski over New Year 2005. A fresh fall of snow overnight made for a wonderful day's skiing on beautifully empty runs, a fantastic New Year's ski. We returned to buy a holiday home the following Easter and have loved both summer and winter and the warm friendliness of our wonderful French neighbours, who have taken care of us from the first day we moved in. It is hard to know which season we prefer the most, but our children bring their friends out at all times of the year, despite the lack of nightlife. There is a reliable train from Nice 4 times a day that connects with a local bus. We are fairly experienced skiers and have never grown tired of the extensive ski area, there is so much off-piste and starting at 1800m the resort is magnificent at grooming the pistes and creating artificial snow in bad seasons (like last year). The only down side of this resort is the number of surface lifts on very cold days - this is the only option now the final old gondola has been removed and replaced with a high speed 6 man chair. Much more efficient, however.

A family resort that is opening up to coach groups from across eastern Europe which can make the resort quite busy in a poor snow cover season.
The lift pass offers value for money providing the link with the neighbouring resort of Praloup is open. Some excellent skiing is available in the other nearby resort of Le Seignus which is only a short trip away by car or even the free "Navette" bus. Night life is limited with only a cinema & 1 night club.
Snow-shoe trails, ice rink & sledging are available but the choice of activity for non sporting members of the group is poor. Some of the new apartments have swimming pools that are open to residents. The resort is a long way south and can suffer from a lack of snow, there is reasonable cover provided by snow cannons..
I love it there but I am biased because I live there all winter.

I went to La Foux d'Allos for a weekend in January and I really liked.
Nice resort, big enough, with well groomed pistes and very beautiful. The resort is cheap and it was almost empty, even on a sunny weekend.
The only drawback are the ski lifts. A bit old and slow, and a lot of surface-lifts that are quite steep.
Plenty of area for off-piste and 3 snowparks guarantee you lots of fun.
I plan to return for sure.

Stayed in Foux D'Allos in March for a long weekend and had reasonable snow. Good resort and not many people so no lift lines. Recommend making a reservation in Pra Loup and skiing across without having to return the same day. Easily done (about 20-25 km) and time to explore and see the terrain in between. Some good off-piste opportunities.
Stayed one night in Pra Loup, which is quite quiet, and then skied back the next day to Foux.
Reasonably priced hotels and food.
