Komoro Grand Castle Hotel, hotel in Komoro

Komoro Grand Castle Hotel enjoys a location in Komoro, a 7-minute walk from Honmachi Machiyakan and 24 miles from Usui Pass Railway Heritage Park.

I am shocked and appalled at how dirty the rooms were. You can fully expect $5/night guesthouses in Cambodia to be cleaner. Fungus all over the walls, whole room and corridor stinks, stains of who knows what on walls and ceiling. The only comment I got from staff was "Oh well, it's a 30 years old building, what you expect". I expect that room should be cleaned as needed.

Tengu Onsen Asama Sanso, hotel in Komoro

5.9 miles from Honmachi Machiyakan in Komoro, Tengu Onsen Asama Sanso offers accommodations with access to a hot spring bath. This 3-star ryokan offers a garden.

I liked the isolation most of all. No light pollution or the sound of traffic. Amazing breakfast and dinner - definitely the best I've had in my travels across Japan. Oishikatta desu! The ferruginous (iron) onsen was soothing and left a warm feeling in my skin throughout the night. The location is great for those planning to hike Mt. Asama.

His English is native speaker level.

His English is native speaker level. I enjoyed the home cooked meals and the company. I made a new friend and got to experience Komoro as well as Karuizawa. He was extremely hospitable and funny. Komoro is very easy to access from Karuizawa station and the host picked me up from the station and cooked awesome meals for me! (Cooked whatever I requested) 10/10. I snowboarded everyday at Karuizawa. On the last day we went to the castle and prayed at the shrine, which was perfect because I did not get to pray at a shrine on New Years. He also shared some cultural knowledge with me, so I got to learn more about Japanese culture.
