Niseko is the place you go when you want to travel/ski but want to feel like your still at home with all your comforts. The mountains pretty nice and not as busy as I expected in the late season.
Hirafu is stupidly over priced for accomodation and food. it's the Whistler of Japan. Lift tickets are expensive compared to most other resorts in Japan.
I only came because I had to do some training at Grand Hirafu.
I ended up staying in Kutchan for 5 of my 10 days as its more affordable and has more of an authentic Japanese feel, although you then may have to wait for buses and you'll be sacrificing the night life if thats what you're into.
Overall I would not return to Niseko unless it was a powder day and I was riding with some friends. Theres plenty of other options to choose from in my opinion.

One of the best spot for skiers/snowboarders I haven't ever been.
Excellent for young travelers, family and couple.
Niseko itself is expensive but just in the surrounding you can have amazing reasonable prized excellent local restaurants.

Niseko is great for snowboarding.
Niseko is great for snowboarding. We were here for the powder and didn’t do much else. The mountain is not huge, but it is bigger than any other we have been to in Japan. The price is higher also. But you get some fun runs in and the tree areas are uncrowded. Would be great if there were more restaurants in the area that are halal or vegetarian friendly advertised on google maps. There are seasonal shuttle buses that operate in the area and the online maps and real time display of bus location is pretty good. Afuri has vegan ramen which was pretty good. Home Made Udon Goroku had vegetarian options also pretty delicious.

Hirafu (the main town around Niseko) is a vibrant ski town with lots of restaurants. I loved it. The skiing was great and so was the nightlife. You do not need a car if you stay in Hirafu. The only caution is that the town feels less Japanese and more “western,” with lots of western food and visitors from Australia, US and Europe. It felt less Japanese than I was expecting. For some visitors, that could be a plus. For others, it may be a negative.

Niseko is a very nice ski resort.
Niseko is a very nice ski resort. Everything is very well organised as in most Japanese ski resorts. The size of the ski resort and number of lifts allows to stay for a 2-3 days without feeling you rode this slope 10 times already. Connection with Niseko Village is not very convenient as you have to get quite high to move across. If you get there during peak season, book your restaurants way ahead otherwise, you will end up getting your food from the food trucks and Lawson. A mix of both will allow to manage your budget. Things are globally more expensive here than man other resorts.

Very heavily commercialised.
Very heavily commercialised. Not a lot of Japanese culture to experience and very dominated by westerners. But having said that, communication in English was made very easy because of this! Incredible resorts, facilities and views. I can see why it's so commercialised and westernised though - because it's a geographically incredible spot. Probably one of the best snow resorts on the planet.
For a capsule hotel, I’m not sure how you could improve this place. The staff were very helpful and always available (eg providing the correct charger converter, bus timetable etc), the entire place was very clean, there was ample space given to each person (a large amont under the bed + a large ski locker to keep your skiwear), and if you’re skiing in Moiwa, you are right next to the resort you could not be any closer. The lodge is conveniently located around 4 onsen closeby (within a 20 minute walk).
The staff was super nice. The hotel is literally touching the slopes, so you can access them literally from the door. And there’s a valet service taking care of your equipment, so you can get it and go out easily.
There are also many amenities that you can use, some free and some for a fee, but very convenient.
There are private onsen that you can book, which is as very nice.
There’s also a free shuttle bus that can take you up and down to the village.
The owners and management team were very nice, service oriented & helpful. The lodges are conveniently located near the Hirafu ski resort. Morning shuttles will be provided, which is awesome. Alternatively free local bus service is available during ski resort opening hours, otherwise it's nice 20 min walk to the resort and all restaurants etc. Breakfast is simple but great to get your energy up for skiing.
The Chalet Ivy is a very nice hotel in Niseko, located very conveniently near the Hirafu Gondola. We enjoyed our recent stay there - the staff were friendly and accommodating, the room was spacious (especially by Japanese standards), very clean and the facilities were all very good. The hotel kindly provides shuttle services to/from Kutchan as well as the the Welcome Center and Gondola.
Super comfortable bed and ample space for the clothes. Also we liked the communal seating area with large bay windows, we spend a lot of time there. The lodge is located on the outskirts of the village, but we actually preferred that, seeing how crowded Niseko has become. Lawsons is just across the street, and a couple of nice restaurants right next door.
Ski in and ski out is unbeatable with the nisekovillage ski slopes being less crowded than hirafu. The onsen is beautiful as well but the lack of towel service and service staff in the onsen is concerning. There were people with phones in the onsen and misbehaving making loud noise.
Great hotel at convenient location close to Hirafu centre. Shuttle available and running frequently. Rooms are very comfortable and with very good size for Japan standards. Bathroom also comfortable. Clean facilities. Breakfast very well served. Ski storage room with good size
Location is good, not in Niseko but only a 9 minute drove from Grand Hirafu.
Big room with a nice bath. Its a good spot if you’re staying for a while. Big fridge, a microwave and kettle.
Private parking spot with each apartment which is nice. Would stay again.
The hotel was very close to the ski lift, food trucks, and restaurants. It also had a great indoor and outdoor onsen.
The traditional Japanese room had a rustic taste, which was very pleasant.
The hotel is children friendly with snow toys provided for free.
One of the best hotel I’ve ever been in Japan!
The host was really friendly and helpful. The house is cozy and authentic.
The best breakfast I’ve ever had at the hotels. The dinners were good as well.
The host picks up to the ski resort in the morning.
Modern hotel that fits the bill for a relatively cheap trip to Niseko. Breakfast was nice with good choice of food, traditional Japanese and North American. Shuttles stopped early enough to keep me skiing everyday, couldn’t stay out all night 😉
Good snow resort access, handy shuttle to both Hirafu and Hanazono
Generous room size compares to most hotel rooms in Japan.
Functional common room and stunning view.
Good quality buffet breakfast with a reasonable price of 1100yen
Location to hill, great rooms, outstanding indoor and outdoor Onsens , good buffet breakfast and easy access ski lockers with buses and Gondola to get to from niseko yo village. Lounge was comfortable place to meet friends
Great Location in Hirafu Village with easy walking to shops and food. The SkiJapan team was very proactive with great communication. The parking pass at the resort was an unexpected and much appreciated bonus.
Hotel staff were very friendly and nice. The facility is new and clean. Best part is the hot spring in the facility. We had a fantastic time in Niseko. Best skiing, foods, location.
Beautiful, clean property with everything you need. Within walking distance of Hirafu, and near multiple shuttle stops that can take you to any of the 4 Niseko United resorts.
It is very difficult to find a place to dine in Niseko! Luckily the hotel restaurant has rescued us!! There are a lot of food to choose during breakfast/ dinner.
A nice and cosy hotel. The staffs are very friendly and accommodating. Rooms are nice and clean. My family enjoyed our stay at Miru Niseko very much. Thank you!
