Good skiing with everything you need within close proximity.
Good skiing with everything you need within close proximity. However, if you are looking for an authentic Japanese exeprience, you are not going to find it in Hakuba. There are a lot of foreigners and many of the establishment workers are foreigners as well.

The buses to get to other ski fields and around Happo One...
The buses to get to other ski fields and around Happo One are somewhat confusing but it seems that there are more buses than on the timetables so that is a bonus. Many lifts start at 8am, so ideally one would have breakfast at 6:30 so one could get an early bus, but may be a challenge finding accommodation that does this.

It’s a ski and snow lover paradise.
It’s a ski and snow lover paradise. A small town with not so much city vibe, but best for snow or ski experience. It’s the idyllic charm that stands out for me. Everything u need for snow and ski experience is available there, for rent or to buy.

Snow was great, the town was very cute.
Snow was great, the town was very cute. Most of all, it wasn't that busy and lift have good space. Plenty of slops to choose from, and great restaurants, shops to go around after ski. Especially onsen was one of the great thing to add after the ski!

Hakuba is great and very welcoming.
Hakuba is great and very welcoming. The people and food are amazing. The skiing was great given the snow levels were lower than normal. The only thing to keep in mind is the bus service, while convenient can get crowded and does not run as much as it maybe should. A car would definitely be a great asset to have.
Naomi picked us up from Kamishiro station which was very helpful and also dropped us at the bus stop on our check-out day.
The breakfast and dinner are great. Koki-san and Naomi-san are very friendly and happy to help us if we have any questions.
There is a bus stop in front of the hotel that can drop us into Goryu ski resort. If you want to go to the other resorts, you need to take another bus.
Very friendly staff. The owner (Mr. Osamu) picked me up and dropped me off at the Hakuba JR station. I also shipped my snowboard bag before I arrived, and they were very kind to keep my board for a few weeks.
The place has a bus stop that makes it easy to access a few resorts like Happo One, 47. It is also walkable distance to the Echoland area - where it has dozens of restaurants and bars.
Mama-san and her family were exceptional hosts. The staff were helpful, friendly and spoke English well. You can hire ski gear and buy tickets from the hotel. They have a wide range of event nights, like Japanese banquet, rice pounding, foot baths and 2hr happy hour every night. The outdoor onsen looks over the ski fields. Walk 2 min to lifts, 5 min to town.
Walking distance to the Happo One ski resort chairlifts, restaurants and cafes. Private onsen available which is fantastic after a long ski day. Great traditional ryokan rooms. And best of all super friendly staff who have helped us numerous times with restaurant recommendations, forwarding our luggage to our next city, picking us up from Hakuba station, etc.
Very pleasant experience staying at Takumi san’s house. They offer pick up service at bus stations and ski resorts. There is a free snacks bar with different wines and juice. We also had a free sushi dinner at first night. We really like the room, clean and sweet, also enjoy the Japanese bathtub after back from skateboarding. You will love the Takumi family!
big hotel in Hakuba, nice onsen, big and clean room, good ski facilities (lockers and ski room), shuttle to Goryu stops at hotel, very good breakfast and nice buffet dinner. staff is very kind and helpful (we had some small issues with the room and they have been very understanding and solved all our problems)
5 minute walk to echo land for meals but in quiet location kids could play in the snow right outside our hotel which they did for hours!
The owner was incredibly helpful and drove us to collect our ski equipment and to and from happo one bus terminal. Very friendly and kind staff
Our room was lovely. Reception (at the sister hotel across the street) was amazing. It is across the street from the shuttle to go to ski resorts and the main stop in town. They were able to call taxis when needed and had a can for pick up and drop off at bus or train station.
The hotel is quite a walk from the resort center, but its surrounded by a beautiful forest and is right below Happo One. The rooms were clean and had a small kitchenet with a microwave. The staff were also kind enough to give my wife and I a ride to the village center.
The hotel is right at the base of Happo One....ski in and ski out. Incredible location. Everyone was more than friendly. You'll find the atmosphere in the restaurant/bar is incredible.....we were treated like family and nothing was too much for anyone to do for us.
Was very convenient to most ski resorts in Hakuba Valley . The onset was lovely. We opted for the daily breakfast option which allowed us to fuel up each day before we hit the slopes. We are a family with a toddler so we didn’t mind the slower pace of the hotel
I would say that I had a very great time in Hakuba Ski-kan. I feel I am staying home, not the hotel! The owner is friendly and cares for her guest as a family member! I love the food she prepares for me when I go hiking and welcome and farewell food!
Awesome location, can’t get any closer to the ski run. The hotel is literally touching the ski run at Goryu. Marcos was awesome too, very helpful with information and restaurant recommendations. We will definitely stay here again in the future.
Great location close to Echoland, 200 meters from hakuba base camp and also within walking distance of happo one (can catch bus from base camp also). Excellent staff that are super friendly! also great view of the mountains!
Nice and helpful staffs. Free Goryu ski resort shutter bus stop right in front of the hotel. Walkable distance to Escal plaza and snowfileld( not on ski boot). Breakfast is also good. Hotel itself is a bit old though.
Stylish room, comfortable bed and modern facilities. They have a ski/snowboard equipment locker and amazing breakfast options! I love that the hotel is helpful to guests who needs a shuttle to/from the ski resorts.
Nice place , good location, close to the bars and restaurants. Friendly staff , very comfortable .
I've stayed in many different hotels in Hakuba , this is one of my favorites .
It meets my skiing style
The hotel staff offered excellent hospitality and created a warm welcoming environment for the guests. Free shuttle bus stops were located in the vicinity for all major ski resorts in Hakuba.
Spacious, clean, comfortable space. Walking distance to Happo one lifts and gondola. Nice view of the Happo one ski runs. Walking distance to coffee shops and some restaurants.
