Tignes Le Lac: the freeride paradise

300 kilometres of slopes at Tignes / Val d’Isère ski resort

The Tignes / Val d’Isère ski resort is known for its fantastic off-piste areas. Powder heads and freeriders love to leave their tracks in the pristine snow around Grande Motte glacier. However, the Tarentaise region also boasts a diverse mix of slopes for those who prefer classic skiing. Roughly 160 slopes and ski runs make every skier’s heart soar, with beginners enjoying the area just as much as advanced skiers and professionals.

Adrenaline rush away from the groomed slopes

In addition to ice diving, ice climbing and snow mountain biking, you can also try Bun-J-Riding there.

Here’s how it works: Secured by two elastic bands, you ski along a 30-metre ramp. Similar to bungee jumping, the bands will propel you down the ramp, launching you into 40 metres of empty space.

The slopes at Rocher de Bellevarde

Between Tignes and Val d’Isère lies the 2,650-metre-high connecting mountain, Rocher de Bellevarde. What makes the local landmark mountain so popular are its many race tracks for all skill levels. Both the orange slope and the challenging black Face de Bellevarde slope, on which you cover an altitude difference of about 1,000 metres, are popular among winter sports enthusiasts.
