Velika Planina summary

The Kamnicka Bistrica valley, in the heart of the Kamnicke Alps, lies between the Krvavec Massif and the Velika Planina range, above Kamniška Bistrica. The high plateau is sprinkled with herdsmen's huts used for summer grazing and holiday cabins. Velika Planina offers 6km of gentle, wide-open, treeless slopes. Note that not all surface lifts are open during weekdays. There are 6kms of piste at Velika Planina and 8 lifts. The area also offers 10km of cross country skiing. Nice surroundings. No artificial snow, so be sure there is enough snow. Another downside are the old ski lifts. Great place if you are a beginner and if there is enough snow.
