Excellent ski area. Lots to do on mountain and Bethel is the quintessential New England ski town. Not a lot of amusements but so much local culture that you really know where you are.
There is fantastic dining choices but you may need a car to reach the furthest.
There is a local bus service loops every 15 minutes and takes visitors from all over the mountain and downtown.
For a really relaxing weekend or vacation it’s a great place to visit.
Conditions at Sunday River exceed all else in the area as their award winning snowmaking and grooming is the best in the USA.

Sunday River is an excellent ski mountain! They have incredible snow making capabilities and knowledge, the result of which is you can pretty much count that they will have good snow when noone else does. Really varied terrain from wide open groomers to glades to steeps that take your breath away. Lots of beginner trails too. I also highly recommend the ski shop at the base of the mountain - Sunday River Ski shop - ask for Greg or Dewey, two guys who really know what they are doing. If you've never worked with real ski pros, you'll be amazed at the difference between getting a really good fit on your boots or choosing just the right ski for your style of skiing.
The restaurant selection is good, not great, but Gringo Harry's (a gourmet Mexican restaurant) is excellent, and the Sunday River Brew pub is always reliable and fun. We have been skiing here with our family of young kids for many years now and we all love it.

I live in Boston and ski at Sunday River all the time. I highly recommend Sunday River. I believe that they offer the best skiing in the east. They have eight mountain peaks, tremendous snow-making, terrain to suit all abilities, good restaurants and very friendly staff.
Overall, Sunday River is an excellent experience.

We Went to Sunday River last year. We went because it was out first time skiing and we wanted the children to learn from english speaking guids. Good large ski areas. Stay in Main! best place!!
