Snowfall warning for North Island New Zealand Issued 24 July at 10am local time. A deepening sub-tropical depression will quickly cross North Island on Saturday accompanied by a short period of gales and heavy rain. Expect easterly blizzard conditions to develop on Ruapehu as well as the ranges from the Tararuas to the Kawekas and perhaps even further north. A Cool SE flow with further bands of snow for mountains elsewhere. Many resorts have seen more than 20cm snow over the past 24hrs.

After visiting Zagrbe for work many times I finally visited Sljeme. At just over a 1000m it's not very high. Admittedly, I only did the night skiing so didn't do all 5 runs, just the long red. It can take all of 5 minutes if you really push it but it was steep and fast and very well lit. The run is used as a world cup womens downhill run.
Don't make a special trip. If you happen to be in Zagreb and it happens to be open then go. Some nice little bars and restaurants at the top and cheap - £10 for 7 to 10PM. Snow board hire was also cheap at £8 and fairly decent stuff. The cable car to the top was broken in 2008 so you needed to get the bus or taxi to the top and to get down. Hopefully next year the cable car will be open and this connects nicely with the trams from the city centre. So if you do it all from public transport the whole thing can be quite cheap.
