Serfaus in Austria (in the Tirol region) is a large resort with 21 lifts (1 chair lifts, 15 surface lifts) that offers skiers an incredible 1257 metres (4124 feet) of vertical descent. Serfaus has 400 acres of terrain over 33 pistes. Serfaus is best suited to intermediate skiers and snowboarders but there is some terrain for beginners and advanced skiers. There are 60 kilometers (38 miles) of cross country ski trails at Serfaus. A small proportion of the pistes at Serfaus are covered by snowmaking. The nearest airport is at Innsbruck and the nearest train station to Serfaus is at Landeck. There is accommodation located close to the pistes but we would welcome additional information about any hotels or chalets in Serfaus.

We went on March 24th 2007. We stayed at App. Raich in Ried, just outside the skiing area down in the valley. Nice apartment. It was above a grocery also owned by the landlady of the app. Very handy! The early (6 am) church bells were not so nice though.
Serfaus, Fiss and Ladis are resp. super, great and nice.
Serfaus had the best slopes, although the Frommes-abfart in Fiss was fabulous.
On wednesday night (other nights at the other locations) we went to the adventure night, with ski/snowboard-show, fire and fireworks-shows. Pretty good. After that, sledriding (Rodeln)... It was fantastic, we ate at Kölner Haus (middle station) and got free sleds. We had 3 runs!
Slopes were well groomed each day but the sun spoiled the lower runs after 12.00 o clock.
Dorfbahn (subway in Serfaus) is a good form of transportation, but when you have to park just outside Serfaus and have to walk with your equipment to the dorfbahn where we had to wait etc.etc. we kinda got tired so we parked at the Waldbahn just between the villages Fiss and Serfaus. There we could get on the lifts just at the parking lot.
Summarized: Great ski-area with nice town and friendly folks!!! will be back next year!
