Sapporo Kokusai is a small but popular resort near Sapporo. You'll find plenty of local shredders here tearing up the park and busy piste runs. Despite its size, Kokusai has a lot of upload capacity meaning that while the piste can be busy, lineups move quickly. Beyond the groomers, Kokusai (Sapporo Kokusai) offers some phenomenal off-piste riding, steep lines and is on the receiving end of some of the heaviest snowfalls in Hokkaido. As a bonus a lot of this sidecountry terrain is tricky to find so if you know where to go, you can usually lap up powder runs all day long with no competition. There is no village at the base of Kokusai (Sapporo Kokusai) but they do offer regular, daily buses to Sapporo city and Jozankei town.
