Rusutsu Resort in Japan (located in the Hokkaido prefecture) is a large resort with 17 lifts (13 chair lifts) that offers skiers an impressive 594 metres (1949 feet) of vertical descent. Rusutsu Resort has 420 acres of terrain over 37 pistes. Rusutsu Resort is best suited for intermediate skiers and snowboarders but there is a also a lot of terrain for beginners and experts too. We have no information about the existence of any cross country ski trails at Rusutsu Resort. For snowboarders, there is a terrain park and a half pipe. The nearest airport is at New Chitose and the nearest train station to Rusutsu Resort is at Kutchan.

I have spent so far 7 days here at Rusutsu Resort and I must say it is great. Not that high altitude, not so vertical but the snow is absolutely fantastic and the forest runs are perfect. I stayed at Romolus Hotel which is a small family owned hotel 500 meters from the resort. Great people and a superb breakfast. It has been snowing every day so most of the tracks are filled with snow the next day. Very few western people here. Don´t eat at the resort. Try the small local restaurants, even if they are hard to see that they actually are restaurants. Try out the new "PirateMan" - great food. I promise you are going to enjoy Rustsu but do not expect any wild nightlife.
