Very extensive ski resort near Maribor (Slovenia's second largest city), located in Slovenia's north-eastern corner. There are 64km of well-groomed trails of all grades, served by 20 lifts. Mariborsko Pohorje is famous for its traditional Golden Fox Trophy, the annual World Cup women's alpine skiing competition, held in early January. The area is lit for night skiing, and its illuminated 5km ski run is the longest in Europe. 336m - 1,347m altitude.

My first time skiing in Slovenia last year at Pohorje was a fun and interesting experience. The skiing was mostly runs cut through a heavily wooded mountain. I was there in January and the snow was manmade with some natural mixed in. Super fun cruising long flowing perfectly groomed runs. I stayed at the Hotel Orel in downtown Maribor. Clean rooms and ok food. Close to Italian cafe with exellent pasta and coffee. This is a busy college city. The night life is always rocking. Make sure and check out the underground (beneath the city) massive wine cellars. Take the tour and taste the local white wines. Skiing is nothing to special, but the city of Maribor and its people make for an awsome experience.
