Madesimo in Italy (in the Lombardia region) is a large resort with 12 lifts (9 chair lifts) that offers skiers an incredible 1398 metres (4587 feet) of vertical descent. Madesimo has 32 pistes with a total length of 55 kilometers (34 miles). Madesimo is best suited to intermediate skiers and snowboarders but there is some terrain for beginners and advanced skiers. There are 10 kilometers (6 miles) of cross country ski trails at Madesimo. For snowboarders, there is a terrain park and 4 half pipes. Over half of the pistes at Madesimo are covered by snowmaking. The nearest airport is at Milan / Milano and the nearest train station to Madesimo is at Chiavenna. Skied at Madesimo during the first two weeks in February. Fantastic snow. Some runs were closed because of too much snow. Away from weekends, it's millionaire's skiing on empty pistes.
Madesimo is well worth a visit for a few days.
